Willie died October 27, 2024, at her children's home peacefully with her loved ones around her. She was born March 14, 1931, in Caldwell to Marion "Ole" Pearson and Anamay (Rodabaugh)Pearson. She had been fighting leukemia since the beginning of 2024 after 12 years of remission. She moved to her son Chris' home to be closer to family in 2021 but continued to dearly miss her many good friends in Vale and the area. Willie moved to Vale in 1959 and began her career at the BLM in 1963 until retiring in 1993. She was married to Rodney Jones in 1952 at Redmond, Oregon, where they both graduated from High School in 1949, and were divorced some 30 years later. About that time she began dating Howard Ego, the long-time City Manager of Vale. They both were able to get a second chance and enjoyed many world cruises, getting together with friends and many family campouts in Bend and "The Diggins" at Sumpter where Howard's grandchildren looked upon her as their grandma. She was extremely involved in several local organizations such as the Eastern Star, Lions Club, NARFE and was a lifelong member of Vale Christian Church where she played piano for several years in the 1960's. Both were active in numerous civic functions and local charitable affairs.
Her daughter, Susie, who lives in Albany was able to come see her regularly and 2 of her 5 great-grandchildren lived only 2 blocks away, in Dallesport, where she lived until her passing. She leaves behind her two children, Chris and Susan, 3 grandchildren, Ashley, Adam and Paul and 5 great grandchildren; also David Ego, Susan (Ego) Yraguen, and all of their extended families. And finally, her next-door neighbor and good friend, Sharon and Bill Lawrence, who was like a daughter for so many years and made it possible for Mom to stay in her own home for 62 years. There will be a graveside service on September 10th at Valley View Cemetery in Vale at 12 noon.
