SNELL, Doris Mrs. Doris Simpson Snell, age 88 of Covington, GA passed away January 6th, 2013. She was born on December 3rd, 1924 in Gwinnett County; Ga. Mrs. Snell was the daughter of William T. Simpson and Lily M. Simpson, of Gwinnett County, GA. She is survived by her three children Dianne S. Banner and husband William R. Banner of Sandy Springs, GA, Barry E. Snell and wife Dorothy G. Snell of Covington, GA and Reginald H. Snell and wife Mary Frances Snell of Fort Myers, FL., Grandchildren Bobby Banner, Atlanta GA, Allison Snell, Covington, GA, Walter Banner, Asheville, NC, Kathryn Snell-Ryan and husband Jack Ryan, Eugene, OR, Laura Snell, Covington, GA, Emily Snell, and Caroline Snell, Fort Myers, FL., Great- Granddaughter Madeline Swick , Nashville, TN, as well as Sylvan and Carver Ryan, Eugene, OR, and Harper Threadgill of Covington, GA. She is survived by her two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Driggers, Charleston, SC and Mrs. Avis Pendley, Social Circle, GA, and numerous other relatives in Atlanta and surrounding areas. Mrs. Snell was in the class of 1942, Snellville High School where she was a member of the Women's basketball team. Mrs. Snell later completed courses in social work at the University of South Carolina, Columbia, SC. She was a homemaker for many years and later earned the position of Site Manager at the Council on Aging in Columbia, SC. Mrs. Snell was also very passionate about gardening, traveling, and entertaining. She was preceded in the death by her loving and devoted husband of 66 years, Frederick C. Snell and her granddaughter, Mary Austine Banner-Swick of Sandy Springs, GA. She was an incredibly amazing woman, from the greatest generation, for her entire life. Mrs. Doris Snell will remain eternally as an unforgettable, inspirational spirit to everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Mrs. Snell was a devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and unbelievably kind relative to all family members. She will be missed greatly, and remembered with tremendous love and affection by all of her family and friends. Funeral Services will be held at 11 A.M. Wednesday, January 9th, 2013 from the Newborn United Methodist Church with Reverend Cecilia Nickolich officiating. The family will receive friends between five and seven P.M. at J.C.
