John Todd Obituary

Family-Placed Death Notice

TODD, John MR. JOHN "JACK" C. TODD Mr. John "Jack" C. Todd, 79, of Marietta, GA passed away on January 21, 2013. He was born in Wheeling, W. Va. to the late Dr. and Mrs. John Todd on May 24, 1933. He grew up in Clearfield, Pa. where he attended Clearfield High School. He graduated from Penn State University where he was a member of Delta Upsilon fraternity (and a loyal Nittany Lions and Joe Paterno fan). He had a 33 year career with Connecticut General Life Insurance Company (CIGNA), starting in the Group Insurance Department in Pittsburgh, Pa. In 1961, he joined the Pension Department and transferred to San Francisco as the Pension Manager. He joined the Philadelphia office in 1967, and in 1980 moved to Atlanta where he served until his retirement in 1991. After his retirement, he took up golfing and was extremely proud of (and amazed at) his two holes-in-one. He enjoyed scuba diving for many years and also was an avid reader. But above all, he was a devoted family man and a very loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Libby, his son, John Gregory Todd, his daughter, Laura Todd McCracken and her husband, Ron McCracken, three grandchildren, Kyle, Kenny and Kasey Pierce, eight nieces and nephews, and two dogs, Molly and Frankie. A celebration of Jack's life will be held at a later date at the Indian Hills Country Club. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to be made in his memory to the Cobb County Humane Society, 148 Fairground Street SE, Marietta GA 30060, www.humanecobb.com, or to the Golden Retriever Rescue League. Arrangements by H.M. Patterson & Son Canton Hill, Marietta. 770/977-8485. Online condolences ma be expressed at www.hmpattersoncantonhill.com

Libby, Laura and Greg -

I saw the notice of Jack's passing in the AJC today - Libby, I've thought of you often in the years since we worked together at Buck (I still cook from the chocolate cookbook) and have wondered how all the Todds were doing. I remember Jack as so cheerful, such an easy guy to be around and so devoted to his family. Libby and Jack always seemed to have a great time together, mastering new adventures such as diving, and there was always humor in your life together. And of course the ever-present animal kingdom! My thoughts and prayers to all of you - I hope I can find out about the memorial service. Love, Sharon Young
