WHITE, Timothy John "Tim"

Timothy John White, 63, of Milton, Georgia, passed away suddenly of natural causes on August 18, 2025.

As the second son and consummate middle child of the late Michael James White and Theresa Houlihan White, Tim was born at Jamaica Hospital in Queens, New York City, on October 30, 1961. He spent much of his childhood in Connecticut and Pennsylvania, graduating from Bishop Kenrick High School in Norristown, Pennsylvania, in 1979 and East Stroudsburg State College (now University) in 1983. All four of his grandparents were born in Ireland, and he was fiercely proud of his Irish heritage.

While academics were not always his first priority, Tim was nonetheless popular among the nuns at his high school for his technicolor red hair, green eyes, and constellation of freckles, as well as his commitment to humanitarian service, which won him a three-year ROTC scholarship. He played first trumpet and reigned as president of the marching band, and served up an equally robust game of tennis, playing in both high school and college. His enthusiastic participation in the Investment Club served him well in his career as a leasing man for various distinguished financial institutions, culminating as Managing Director and Head of Commercial Markets at Bank of America. Of all his many accomplishments, however, he was most proud of winning "Mr. Legs" during a college spring break in Daytona Beach, and could be found most evenings lovingly polishing his trophy.

When he was in college, his father's banking career relocated the family to London, England, where his sister, Claire, attended the American School in London, there forging a lifelong friendship with her classmate, Karen Sconiers. It was Claire who introduced Tim and Karen—for which fateful act Tim swore he would never forgive her—and when Claire married Rich Kobylt, the fun really began. The husbands shared a deep bond and enjoyed lively conversation over bourbon and cigars. The couples' competitive games of Trivial Pursuit and Pictionary became legendary, although the uncanny current of communication between the two men left them open to accusations of cheating by their suspicious wives.

Tim and Karen welcomed a daughter, Meghan, in 1992, followed by a son, Connor, in 1993. Tim approached parenting with the same enthusiasm as he did everything else. He enjoyed building pinewood derby cars with Connor and proudly squired Meghan to father-daughter dances. Tim took particular pleasure in sending his wife and daughter terrifying shark selfies from his many scuba-diving adventures with Connor and friends. He was the family's fearless captain on vacation, stoically driving a stick shift through a London rush hour—ensnaring his loved ones inside one particularly byzantine roundabout—and along a narrow country road in Ireland, while tailgating an indignant sheep. Laced with "daddisms" and punctuated by quirks of Tim's sardonic, perfectly formed eyebrows, these holidays were made all the more unforgettable by his irreverent approach to life.

Tim relished his role as the "fun parent". When his wife left on book tours, he would gleefully announce to their offspring, "No more rules!"—leaving Karen to return a week or two later with a large tube of topical antibiotics in hand, prepared for the worst. He was a loving son, a loyal brother to Michael, and the best big brother in the world to his sister Claire.

As Tim approached retirement age, he was adamant that he didn't want a retirement party. Instead he devoted himself to service, serving as Vice Chair of the East Stroudsburg University Foundation and Director of the Atlanta Police Foundation, among other roles including membership in the Knights of Columbus. He rarely tooted his own horn—in fact, his children pleaded in vain for him to play his trumpet and prove that he was as talented as his medals proclaimed. But his family, friends, and colleagues will remember his intelligence, kindness, and sly humor, and their hearts will forever bear a Tim-shaped hole.

Timothy John White is survived by his wife of almost 37 years, Karen; his daughter, Meghan Sullivan (husband, Paul), and granddaughter due in October; his son, Connor (fiancée Carter Babaz); his brother, Michael (wife, June); his sister, Claire Kobylt (husband, Rich); fifteen nieces and nephews, and an immortal tub of coleslaw.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation and Samaritan's Purse.
