Gerald "Jerry" James Sachs, Sr.
12/2/1943-3/29/2018
Gerald "Jerry" James Sachs, Sr. was born in Roseville, Calif on Dec. 2, 1943. He died peacefully at home on March 29, 2018.
During his first 65 years, Jerry served as an Army medic (1963-1966, including a tour in Korea), raised his family in Roseville and worked for 34 years as an X-ray technician. He was also a faithful member of the Baha'i faith.
For the last 10 years, Jerry lived in San Francisco with his wife Leslie. He cherished walking at Stow Lake with friends and waiting for the annual hatching of the herons. He enjoyed strolling along and collecting shells at Ocean Beach and playing pool at the Doelger Center, where he made treasured friends. Jerry loved gardening at home and in the Sunset community gardens. He loved to play the ukulele while donning his favorite Hawaiian shirts. Jerry's sense of humor kept him youthful!
Jerry's Baha'i faith was his foundation. Introspective and kind, Jerry would ponder and discuss life with all people. He believed in unity through diversity.
He is survived by his wife Leslie; son Jerry (Kelly) Sachs Jr; daughter Amy Cherie Sachs; three grandchildren: Aria (Samba) Bruss-Schutte, Gia and Sonny Sachs; brother Greg (Nancy) Sachs, nephews Andy Sachs and Scott (Jennifer) Sachs; and grand- niece Kensington.
Services will be held in Daly City, Calif on Tuesday, April 10 at Duggens Serra, 500 Westlake Blvd at 1 p.m. Reception follows at the Doelger Center, 101 Lake Merced Blvd.. Burial and graveside service will be held in Roseville at 1 p.m. on April 12 at the Roseville Public Cemetery, 421 Berry St.
In remembrance, Jerry always said that "life is terribly wonderful".

Jerry, the memory of your laugh warms my heart. It was such a joy for me to know you! When I look up at a starry sky, I'll know one of those twinkling stars is wearing a warm smile and Hawaiian shirt, playing its ukulele for us.

Missing my cousin Jerry but know that he is with God and resting in peace and seeing all of our family that have gone before him. He was the best!!!! I will always remember all of our good times growing up together. Until we meet again....

Jerry was my high school classmate. While on a Easter break vacation from Sierra College we took a deep sea fishing trip to Ensenada, Mexico. One late night From our motel I walked alone to a nearby cafe to have a cup of coffee. On my way back to my motel I was accosted by a car load of kids. Out of the blue I heard someone call out my name. It was Jerry, who was concerned about my safety & went out looking for me at that every moment I was being accosted. Jerry shoo away the carload of kids & escorted me home. I believe the good lord told Jerry to go look for me. I believed I was saved by Jerry.
