OSWEGO - Christian Wyatt Hannig "The Dude," of Oswego, passed away peacefully at Upstate University Hospital on June 19, 2017 at 20 after 4 p.m. surrounded by loved ones. He was born on June 14, 1963 in Massena, N.Y. to Donald Michael Menard, of Cornwall, Ontario, and Judith Silmser Menard, of Massena, N.Y. He was adopted on June 19, 1963 and raised by Joseph Hannig Jr. and Rhonwynn Ann Moore Hannig, of Auburn.
Christian enjoyed spending time with family, especially his children and grandchildren. He was a great artist in all mediums, and proud to achieve the level of Eagle Scout; as well as participating in swimming and gymnastics in his younger years. He also enjoyed fishing, golfing, and rooting for local sports teams.
Christian is survived by both of his fathers; his daughter, Sara Wild and her husband, Richard; his son, Christian Hannig; his grandchildren, Adriana, Evan, and Ashton Wild; his sisters, Traci Kowal and her husband, Keith, and Denise Upper and her husband, Robert; his brother, Danny Menard and his wife, Tanya; also several nieces and nephews.
Christian was predeceased by both of his mothers; as well as his brother, Michael Hannig.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 24, 2017 in Soule Cemetery, Franklin Street, Auburn.
Brew Funeral Home, Auburn, is in charge of the arrangements.
