AUBURN | Donald Dexter Stanford, 92, of Townline Road, Auburn, died peacefully in his home on Nov. 8, 2013.
Don was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Alice Meddaugh Stanford.
Don is survived by his son, Dan Stanford, of Rochester; daughters, Paula Wedemeyer, of Ithaca, Donna Bond, of Saluda, N.C., and Rhonda Stanford-Zahn, of Auburn, and his beloved dog, Gabe. He was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Don proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a second lieutenant and remained a leatherneck until the day he died. He was a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Cayuga County Voltaire.
At his request, there will be no memorial services.
In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the Veterans organization of your choice. Arrangements are by Farrell's Funeral Service, Inc., 84 South St., Auburn.
