I was a neighbor of Libby's on Lewis Street. As soon as I moved to the neighborhood, she came over to introduce herself and make me feel at home!!
She was a really special lady and I missed her a great deal when she had to move away. There are many stories, but I will always remember this one. I'd been working in Syracuse at the time and for weeks, someone had been bringing in my trash cans. Well I assumed it was Roger next door, but on this day his trash cans were still out and mine were by my garage door!!
So the following week, I left a note of thanks to "Whoever" was bringing in my trash cans for me!! When I got home late that evening, there was a note back from Libby saying that I worked a long day and she needed her exercise, signed Libby and her cat (I don't quite remember her cat's name now) but I thought that was so sweet.
It continued through snow or sleet for years. We would watch out for each other to be certain that everyone was okay, Libby, Jane, Roger, Jo and myself. She was a remarkable lady and I am certain that she is watching over the neighborhood and planting her garden in Heaven now!!
Thank you for sharing such a wonderful woman with me, Karen

As one of Mrs. Mitchell's former students I remember her fondly. I was in her 2nd grade class at Fulton St. School. I most enjoyed reading in her class. She was an inspirational teacher.
