Everett Allen Obituary

AURORA - Everett W. Allen, 87, of Route 34B, Aurora, passed away Monday, Nov. 7, 2011, at his home. Mr. Allen was born July 20, 1924 in Scipio, the son of the late Stuart and Edna (Chamberlain) Allen. A lifelong Scipio resident, Everett was a graduate of the Emily Howland School of Sherwood, and had been a self-employed dairy farmer and hay broker. He was active in many community organizations throughout his life, which included being elected as Scipio town supervisor for two separate terms. Everett was a charter member of the Scipio Fire Department, a 60-year member of Cayuga Lodge No. 221 F&AM and he belonged to the 'Bored to Death Gang.' He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, gardening and dancing, notably being a member of the 'Spinning Wheels' dance group for many years. He was predeceased by his wife, Walda (Barski) Allen on April 9, 1985; by his infant grandson, Brandon Allen; and by his two sisters, Lois Beck and Marilyn Ford. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Susan 'Dee' Allen, of Scipio Center, and their daughter, Sarah Allen; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and William VanNostrand Jr., of Scipio Center, and their sons, Aaron, Matthew and Bryan VanNostrand; son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Sandra Allen, of Scipio Center, and their children, Christopher, Joshua and Felicia Allen; his special friend, Jean Westlake, of Aurora; nieces and nephews. A private graveside service will be held in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Scipio Center, at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Will miss Everett's humor Will miss him he was so spirited when he felt better and I cared for him at the hospital May he celebrate this Christmas with Jesus. My condolences to all of you. Unfortunately, I think the last time I saw Everett (and Gary) was at my mother's calling hours in Aurora in 1998. But I remember many happier times in Scipio when I was little. Take care of yourselves.
