Virginia "GiGi" Castiglione, loving wife of predeceased Patsy Castiglione, passed away at Auburn Nursing Home on Jan. 22, 2018.
GiGi was predeceased by sisters, Catherine Calisprone, Connie (Robert) Dougherty, Mary (Paul) Sargent, and brother, Joseph (Marge) Calisprone. She is survived by sister, Betty Ann (Vern) Colvin and many nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and nephews. GiGi graduated from Holy Family High and Kent Business School in Auburn and retired from the Cayuga County Family Court System 30 years ago.
GiGi had no children, so she "adopted" all of her nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and nephews as her own. Many friends of the family also called her Aunt GiGi. She loved to travel and spend time with friends, especially beloved sister-in-law Rose Castiglione and Louise Blafield. GiGi was also an accomplished, if reluctant, accordion player. Many a holiday, the family would drag the accordion out and prod her in to playing, much to her dismay, but much to our delight.
Calling hours for GiGi will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, at White Chapel Funeral Home Inc., 197 South St., Auburn with a service to immediately follow at 4 p.m.
The family would like to thank the folks of Auburn Nursing Home for their loving friendship and care for our special aunt these past five years. In lieu of flowers, family and friends are invited to donate money to Project Lifesaver, care of the Office for the Aging on 160 Genesee St. for Alzheimer's disease.
