Joseph Napier Obituary

WAYNESBORO, Ga. - Mr. Joseph Alan Napier entered into Heavenly rest after a long battle with cancer on August 29, 2013. He was 54 years old. Joe was born on July 13, 1959. He was a native of McBean, Georgia, having made Waynesboro, Georgia, his home for the last 14 years. He attended Hephzibah High School. Joe was a linesman for Comcast for many years, and he enjoyed traveling with his job and meeting people. He was a devout Christian, and enjoyed reading his Bible and learning God's Word, and when given the opportunity, he would share with others. He also enjoyed reading about history and coins. One of his favorite things to do was watch the truck races on television with his faithful best friend, his dog, Tobias. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Rolin Napier, Sr., and Joyce Loretta Napier McCracken, his brothers, Judson Bolin Napier, David Rolin Napier, and Jack Philip Napier, and his great-aunt, Bertis Napier Broome, whom he credited with teaching him about the joy of Jesus. He is survived by his brothers, Albert Napier, Jr. (Kay) of Appling, Georgia; Robert Napier of Santa Fe, New Mexico; his sisters, Rachel Napier Watson (David Horne) of Augusta, Georgia; Rhonda Napier Leander of Wellington, Utah; and Susan Napier Brantley Fields of McBean, Georgia; and his special foster brother, Perry Jenkins, of Augusta, Georgia; and his cousin and good friend, Jesse Collins Stone, of Waynesboro, Georgia; as well as several nieces and nephews; and his dog, Tobias. Special thanks to Dr. Townsend and his staff, University Hospital 10th floor staff, and the Golden Living Center staff, especially Chrissy Engel, for the wonderful care each gave to Joe. Also, special thanks to Springwood Kennels for their loving care of Tobias. Joe was kind person. He will be dearly missed by all who loved him. At his request there will be no public services. The family will gather at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2607 Commons Blvd., Augusta, Georgia 30909.
