Steven Parker Obituary

Steven Brent Parker left us on October 16, 2018; this is his story. Brent was a wonderful man that was loved, is missed, and will always be cherished. Our "Brent-a-roo," as he was called by so many, was an amazing husband, son, and brother. Brent had a huge heart and would do anything for a friend or family member. He was the life of the room and always had a witty response for any situation.

Brent's story starts on July 12, 1979, when the youngest son to Chester and Mary Margaret Parker was born in Augusta, Georgia. As a son of Georgia Power, Brent spent his childhood years in Waynesboro, Augusta, and Peachtree City, Georgia. Brent graduated from McIntosh High School in 1998 and went on to attend Georgia Southern University where we received a Bachelor's of Business Administration in Finance in 2005. Brent loved Georgia Tech Football and never missed a game. The Parker family spent many Saturdays around Grant Field cheering on their beloved Yellow Jackets. Brent's passion for the Jackets even brainwashed his wife Brooke, a die-hard Georgia fan, to cheer on the team, except on rivalry weekend, the last Saturday in November.

Loved ones that cleared the path to eternity for Brent are his father Chester Lanier Parker Jr. and his grandparents. Brent is survived by his mother Mary Margaret Parker, his older brother Lanier Parker and partner Charlotte Butler, his wife Brooke Parker, and his many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. The loss of our Brent-a roo is felt so deeply by so many, but we can take solace that one day we will see our Brent-a-roo again. We love you and miss you Brent.

Brent was always so proud of his Dad's work helping victims of disasters so, in lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Red Cross for Hurricane Michael victims or to the charity of your choice in Brent's name.

Brent,
When I toasted you at your wedding I said, we may have our differences because, face it, were brothers; but you ARE my brother, and I will ALWAYS love you.

I tried to piece together something to say to you, this is what I came up with:

Little Brother, Im going to miss you so much, Not only have you left, but a part of my very soul has gone with you. From now on, stories about us cannot be shared, but rather be told from only one perspective. You went away so suddenly, We did not say goodbye, But brothers can never be parted, our precious memories will never die.

I really miss you and dad.

The first time I met Brent was in the summer of 1998. I was 20 and he had just graduated high school and came to visit his big brother at Auburn. When he bounded through the front door at Garden District, he was tall, serious looking and had a presence about him; I was nervous. But all of sudden, he waved the silliest little wave and grinned the sweetest smile and I knew that we would be friends. And we were. Brent became the little brother I always wanted. We fought like siblings, but fought for each other like siblings do too.

When Brent was at Georgia Southern, his shenanigans would pop up at holidays, birthdays and trips. And there were ALWAYS shenanigans. He loved to have a margarita with Pops on a birthday and talk about the next time they could get to Ruths.

His quick wit was always self-deprecating, and he loved to make people laugh. Everyone loved that humor in him. I remember our friend Joseph once telling me how Brent always surprised him with that wit. We would be joking, laughing and telling tall stories and Lanier Brent Rusty and Josh would really get going. Joe would just watch them play out their hilarity in awe. In those moments, you could see the genius behind the conscious banter with his perfectly timed zinger. That was the Brent that everyone knew. But my favorite Brent was the one that would call me from college to talk to me about a girl he liked and ask for advice, the vulnerable one who cried when he scared and needed help, the one who was so proud about getting fit or a new job... and the one that reminded me my dog Maddie was too dumb to be alive.

His heart was big, he was sensitive and caring. He so loved and admired his brother and always wanted to make him proud in his own way. And he sure made "Krogering" fun. He could make anything fun.

He brought us laughter, he brought us Allie, and he taught us to not be so serious. You will live on in so many memories, your goofy grin and silly wave forever etched on my heart. Love you sweet Brenneroo.

Peter 5:10-11:

"And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. To him be the power for ever and ever.

Mary Margaret and Lanier, my heart is breaking for you. I just learned of Brent's passing, and had only recently heard about Chester's. I have very fond memories of both of them and will keep them, and the two of you, in my prayers.

Brent, you made me cry with laughter every time I hung out with you. I'll always remember the times you took me out for my birthday. It meant a lot to me. Anywhere you were, everyone was happier. Anywhere you were, everyone felt warmth. Thank you for being such a great person, friend, brother and son. You will be missed more than you know. Love always,Meredith C.
