Carol Jean HOEY

1935 - 2021

A caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She passed away on August 20, 2021 at age 86.
She was born to Delmar and Doris Bond on May 7, 1935 and grew up in Camas, Wash. along with three brothers (Daryl, Alan and Robert) and two sisters (Sharon and Marilyn). She attended the University of Washington in Seattle and joined the Kappa Delta sorority. Her "big sister", Myrnie Hoey, invited Carol to a family dinner where she met Myrnie's older brother, Bob. They quickly knew they were destined for each other and married in June 1955, moving to the Antelope Valley where Bob began working at Edwards Air Force Base.
Carol loved staying home as a full-time mom to Richard and Teri until they were in high school. She was also a very active member of the community both volunteering and then working full- time at AV Hospital as a pharmacy technician for many years. After retirement, she continued serving the community as a volunteer at the Prime Desert Woodlands followed by Palmdale Regional Medical Center for several years. Never one to sit still, Carol joined the Boogie Woogie Mamas, a group of senior dancers, where she danced in performances and competitions for 17 years. Other hobbies she enjoyed were bowling, playing bridge, snow and water skiing and numerous camping trips with her children and grandchildren in their RV.
In Carol's words "I have had a truly marvelous life" in which she found love from Bob, her husband and friend, watched her children and grandchildren grow into wonderful adults and celebrated the many accomplishments of her family and friends through the years.
Carol is survived by her husband Bob Hoey, son Richard (Tink) Hoey, daughter Teri (Rick) Alvarez and granddaughters Ashley Alvarez and Michelle Hoey. A celebration of Carol's life will take place at Lancaster Presbyterian Church on Saturday September 25, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. followed by light refreshments.
