Alexis Stinson Obituary

Alexis Katrina Stinson

Phoenix - Alexis Katrina Stinson, 44 of Phoenix, left us unexpectedly and far too soon on the evening of Wednesday, April 4, 2018. She was born in Phoenix August 1, 1973.

We may truly believe we know a person until we are faced with a situation that defies our understanding of that person. We know facts and figures, dates and times, locations and outcomes. But we only get glimpses into hearts, souls and what goes on in the deepest, most secret recesses of another's mind. We know how…but we may never know why.

Alexis was many things - a Goldwater High graduate. A Navy veteran who proudly served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson. A computer techie with a BS in Computer Science. And others. More importantly to her and to us she was a daughter, a sister, a stay-at-home mom, a loyal friend, and a fierce supporter of transgender rights. She was kind and funny and gentle and nurturing. She loved animals, meditation, writing Haiku poetry, singing Karaoke, playing bass guitar, Arizona sunsets and vintage everything. She relished her Cherokee heritage. Above all, she was a complex, thoughtful and loving person, a seeker on her spiritual path focused on finding inner peace and serenity every single day.

Alexis leaves behind her rock, Melissa Stinson, and beloved daughter Kailei of Phoenix, parents Michelle Hazzard (Richard) of Idaho and George Stinson (Vicki) of Phoenix, sister Heather Cope (Bill) of Phoenix, step-sister Noelle Collins (Gary) of Nebraska, nephews Kriz, Sean, William, Ben, Gage, and nieces Erin and Danielle.

Mortuary arrangements were handled through Hansen and a celebration of her life and love held privately.

Should you be so moved, the family requests you help spread Alexis' love with a donation to your favorite charity.

As Alexis wrote just a year ago, "Understanding takes a lot of effort. Love depends on it." Rest in Peace, sweet soul.

I loved her with ALL of my heart! She was funny, had a sarcastic AND intelligent wit. She sang like an angel when I introduced her to karaoke. She told me days before her death and many times before that she loved Davenport, Iowa. She also loved Daisy, "Ditts" as she called her... She also loved her daughter Kailei or "Lil' Bit" as she was known. She LOVED cooking and she loved me, Bryan or "Bee" as she called me. I am very sad
