Aurora Aguilera Obituary

Aurora Aguilera

Aurora Aguilera entered Heaven on September 6, 2020 at the age of 91. Surrounded by family, she attained her life's goal of meeting her Savior, Jesus Christ. Aurora was born on February 26, 1929 in San Benito, TX to Jose and Clara Villarreal. Her dream was to join the military and to see the world but God had other plans for her life. On April 18, 1950, she married Reynaldo Aguilera and together they raised 10 children (6 sons and 4 daughters). They lived in Texas for many years before moving to Phoenix, AZ. Aurora's love for Jesus Christ was her passion in life. She asked every person she met if they knew Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. In 1992, she was God's instrument to start the first Women's Retreat of Hispanic Churches of the Southern Arizona Baptist Convention. The organization that holds these retreats was named Ministerios Aurora in honor of her work to reach as many women as possible with God's word. She attended Iglesia Bautista El Faro for 52 years, where she taught Sunday School and participated in countless church functions. Her calling in the church was missionary work. She helped raise money, gave weekly reports, and prayed weekly for the missionary ministries. She spent hours reading her Bible, praying, and bringing the needs of family, friends, and strangers before God. Aurora's love for her family was her other passion in life. She prayed every night for each family member, by name. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reynaldo, her son, Raul, and 2 daughters-in-law, Chris (Ruben) and Darlene (Rene). She is survived by 9 children Delores (Richard), Ray Jr. (Jeanne), Ruben, Rene, Becky (Pete), Roy Lee (Lorrie), Ruby (David), Rolena (Vernon), and Rodney. She has 40 grandchildren, 93 great grandchildren, and 11 great-great grandchildren. Aurora took great pride in her sons Raul and Roy Lee being United States Marines and her son Ruben becoming a doctor. Aurora loved the outdoors, feeling the warmth of the sun, and enjoying the beauty of God's nature. She loved listening to and singing hymns. She loved anything that reminded her of God's love for us. Memorial service will be held at Tempe Christian Church, 5815 S. McClintock Drive Tempe, AZ 85283 on October 17, 2020 and will begin promptly at 10:30 am.

I REMEMBER MRS. AGUILERA & KIDS SINGING CHRISTMAS CAROLS OUT ON OUR FRONT PORCH ONE YEAR, PEOPLE JUST DON'T DO THAT ANY MORE.
I ALSO REMEMBER HER TALKING TO ME AS A TEENAGER, TELLING ME IN A ROUNDABOUT WAY THAT I WAS NOT BEING VERY INTELLIGENT IN MY DAY TO DAY CHOICES, YOU KNOW, MOM THINGS.

To the family of hermana Aurora. You have my condolences, we’re never prepared to say goodbye to a loved one. I remember so vividly her Sunday school classes for the ladies at El Faro Baptist church.
She always had an enthusiasm and a way of motivating people to continue serving the Lord & grow when trials came our way. Aurora you’ve done that very well. And now God has taken you home.
When the time to preform is at hand, the time to prepare has past, and throughout your life u handled those two well. And now is your time.
Yes folks she hermana Aurora prepared well and she’s now rejoicing. Familia & friends someday we’ll see her again.

Grandma, I have tried to write and rewrite this over and over, I was beyond blessed to be born into this amazingly blessed family with you at the head. From as far back as I can remember, spending time with you was always so inspiring. The many VBS's every summer, were the absolute highlight of spending time with you. So much so I never stopped, went from being a little one to volunteering along side of you. I love you beyond measure Grandma.

My Aunt taught me some beautiful lessons about prayer and staying strong in the Lord. She is greatly missed, but I will see you again in the presence of our Savior Jesus Christ.

I've always known that someone was praying for me all these years. She was an inspiration of my faith in Jesus Christ and loved all her family. A gracious host and loved my visits with her and my Uncle Ray as well as my cousins. She loved and talk to me about God. My mother and her were like sisters because she'd talk to mom when things got hard. I enjoyed my last visit in Phoenix because I wanted to see her and my cousins. She was so proud of them all. As usual we would joke and kid with each other. Though it had been years, it felt like yesterday. When I served my country, I knew someone was praying for me. My Aunt Aurora was the true virtuous woman and a giant among the Christian community. Her love and humbleness towards all and serving the Christian community. I'll see you soon, Tía Aurora. Rest in the loving arms of our Savior. We love you and miss you. Thank you for everything you did for me. Your loving nephew, Benjamine Lara Aguilera. USN and ex Special Agent badge # 24 State Of Florda. Peace to my cousins and friends. God bless.

One of the many blessings I have been given was to grow up with you as such a prominent part of my life. From childhood to adulthood, I was able to watch your unwavering faith and the way you loved each of us. I can hear your words in my mind. Praying with me and for me for the Lord to give me guidance in all the ways I move throughout life for me and the kids. You’re in my heart. Even amongst the heartache that you’re no longer here, we know we will see you again in Heaven. We love you, Grandma.

I used to tell people that I had a "secret weapon", to which most looked at me to inquire "What"? Then I'd tell them my secret weapon was that my mother prayed for me every day. Miss you Mom, glad you are finally to your eternal home.

Jesus Christ is the greatest gift God has given us but, following close behind is the gift of a Christian mother who lives her faith in Christ daily. I will miss you every day mom but, I will see you again in Heaven.
