I'm deeply saddened by the loss of Bonnie Owens. She was an indispensable part of Merle Haggard's music, and I love Hag's music more than anything. It wouldn't have been the same without her backup and harmony vocals. Her influence on Hag's songwriting was also invaluable. It's the loss of a great talent and a great person.

I extend my condolences to the entire family.
As a young girl growing up in Bakersfield, I remember Bonnie well. She rented an apartment from my family on Center Street, right behind our house in Bakersfield. Buck Owens, Merle Haggard, Fuzzy Owen and several others local country singers and band members would
hang out at her place. My family and I would listen to Bonnie sing on the ‘Cousin Herb Henson Trading Post Show’ (and even visited on the set at the television station). I use to visit with Bonnie while she waited for her ride (at the end of our driveway) to go to work and when cared for a litter of puppies that she kept in the bathtub (in her apartment). My mother (Shirley Kyles) and Bonnie got along really well because they both sang and loved music. I shall always remember Bonnie as smiling, very friendly and exceptionally caring.

I never have and never will meet a more dignigied individual than Bonnie. More than the singer, the star, the celebrity, it was the person which most impressed me. She made the lives of those she touched better. May God bless and keep you.

Bonnie and Buck are now "Together Again"!! We felt like we knew Bonnie listening to the songs she sang with Merle. Two of our favorites are "Our Hearts Are Holding Hands Across The Miles" and "Just Between The Two of Us". We're thankful she brought us such beautiful music. Bless her family.

Buddy and Michael, My prayers go out to you and the other family members of Bonnie Owens. It an awful thing you have to experience in losing your Father, (a big hero of mine) and now your Mother. I was shock to hear about Bonnie passing away. Now your mom and dad are both in heaven making beautiful music in the angel band and watching over you. I saw Bonnie with Merle in 1971. I saw Bonnie with Buck and Buddy when Corbett was 14 months old. I was able to get Buddy, Bonnie and Jim Shaw to let me take a picture. I wish all the best for the family

I met Bonnie when she worked at the Blackboard and I worked at the Rancho Bakersfield. we were friends after that.when she worked at the Little Sweden she was the best one there. She was the best in everything she did. She will be missed. this has been a very sad month.

Bonnie Owens, what a great singer and that voice, when you heard her on Hag's recording or live performance you knew that it was Connie.
Had the pleasure of seeing her twice with Hag. You could tell that she enjoyed singing and performing.

Bonnie the day we met and you gave me that piece of paper that said It is a pleasure meeting you friends forever BONNIE, you meant it but that paper didnt say how close we would become or that our friendship would last 4 decades. I am so blessed that it did, thank you for all the fun we had and all the things we shared in person and on the phone and for letting me be part of your life.I can hear you telling me now that STARTING TODAY And only me and you knew what you said and why. THANK YOU.i miss you dearly and love you. my life was so much richer with you a part of it. How sad a day for me. Losing a dear friend. Last time I saw Bonnie was in 1995 at the Bakersfield fairgrounds. It was wonderful to visit with her and have a picture with her and Buck, Merle, Lowell , and the gang. It was a great afternoon. Bakersfield will miss both Bonnie and Buck as will all friends of Buck and Bonnie all across the US. My prayers go out to Mike and Buddy and their families. God Bless you all and I'll never forget my years in Bakersfield with them and the memories will be sweet. Til we meet again dear friends.

I had the pleasure of meeting Bonnie when she appeared with Merle at Billy Bob's, New Year's Eve in Fort Worth. I was there during sound checks and we had a wonderful two hour visit. What a lady, so sweet. I mailed copies of the photos I took that day and she graciously returned them autographed. She will always be a favorite entertainer and I like to think, Friend.

To my dear friend Bonnie and her family. I was so honoured to have Bonnie as a friend, I count myself so lucky. Since I had the chance to go on some tours with Merle, I was lucky enough to have an amazing friend in Bonnie. The best words to describe Bonnie, are Sweet Sweet Lady. She helped me through some tough times, dealing with my dad's death, she made sure I always had food and a place to stay. Bonnie told me story after story about life with Merle and Buck and her life. I thank the Lord for having Bonnie in my life. I miss her dearly, but Im sure shes singing again. Thanks Bonnie for the time, caring and loved you showed to me and my family

Bonnie first touched my heart when I was only 9yrs old. My daddy had come home from off the road with Merle, and brought a christmas present that Bonnie had sent to me.
It was a PJ Barbie doll, and I will never forget it, because I hadn't even met her, yet, and she thought enough of me to send me a gift before she even knew me. I don't know why it meant so much to me, but it did. After I met her I loved her. She was the truth of what a person is supposed to be in life. She gave nothing but the purest of love, happiness and joy for humanity to each and every person she came into contact with.
She was an angel on this earth and will be truly missed.

I became of fan of Bonnie and saw her many times, first on Cousin Herb and then with Merle at many concerts.I saw her last at the Porterville fair with Merle a number of years ago. She was always so down to earth and funny and cute and a really great performer. We'll miss you Bonnie. My sympathies to her family,especially so close to losing Buck.

I always loved hearing Bonnie sing and perform with Merle Haggard. My friend and I talked with Bonnie in Macon, GA a few years ago when she was singing with Merle Haggard. She was so gracious to us and acted as if she had known us forever. We recently saw Merle in Macon, GA a few days after Buck died and it was a kinda sad show. They said Bonnie had been under the weather but I had no idea she was fighting such a battle. She is in a better place now but we will all miss her sweetness here on earth. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to all her family.
