We are so sorry to hear about the passing of Carl. Our thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. He left a great legacy....War hero, outstanding husband and father and a very hard worker. I have many happy memories when you and Carl and the family visited with my Mom and Dad (Jim and Connie) and our family. Preserve all your wonderful memories of Carl, that trademark smile that made everybody love him. May your memories of Carl bring you comfort as you make your way through this passage. May God grant him eternal peace. God Bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

Dear Mike,Ray,Louie,Carl and John, we are so sad to learn of Charlie's passing. He and Frankie came to our house in Irondequoit after the war and before Charlie married Jennie. You all came to Brockport for a picnic after my mother, Rose Gioseffi, came to live with us. We thought so highly of your family. I believe that your family bought our old upright piano when my mom moved to Brockport. I spoke to your dad in the spring. I was concerned because I had not heard from your Uncle Frankie and we had been corresponding. A while after that, I learned that Frankie had died. What a loss to the world to have two wonderful veterans gone.

Piccarreta family,

I am sorry to hear of Uncle Charlie's passing. As a child in the '60's, I remember Uncle Charlie either coming to our house or when we visited my grandparents (Gioseffi) in Rochester. What a wonderful laugh he had with jokes for all of us! I hope he has reconnected with my grandparents - Rose and Ben Gioseffi.

I have very pleasant memories of Uncle Charlie and Aunt Jenny. I was a very young woman married, at the time, to Bucky. I've often thought of you and am give thanks for making me feel welcome in your warm, loving home. I never knew about Uncle Charlie's war years and all that he endured. I only knew him as a caring, gentle man. I am very sorry for your loss. Joyce Miller

My deep sympathy goes to Jennie and all of Carl's family. I was privileged to work with Carl as his personal secretary for many years at Kodak. He was wonderful to work with, always with a smile and never a mean word. During that time, I heard through the grapevine of what he had gone through--having been captured by the enemy and kept for three years in one of the worst prison camps known during World War II. Yet, even with all he suffered for our country, I never once heard a boast or a brag from his lips. I always admired his humble attitude, and felt honored to work for him. My husband, Don, and I enjoyed some good times with Carl and Jennie, and although we had not connected for many years, I was so blessed to have had a few words with Carl by phone the week before his passing. Carl, you will never be forgotten. I hope you and my Don will reconnect in heaven.
With love and respect,

My condolences to Jennie and family for loss of their loved one which was a warrior of WWII.

I would like to honor this veteran for his bravery which contributed to the defense of Bataan on the Philippine Islands. Without this stand, the Japanese might have quickly overrun all of the U.S. bases in the Pacific

Mr. Piccarreta was a corporal of the United States Army and served with E Battery, 59th Coast Artillery Regiment during the battles of Bataan and Corregidor.

The unit was awarded three Distinguished Unit Citations aka Presidential Unit Citation w/2 Oak Leaf Clusters. The unit was also awarded the Philippine Presidential Unit Citation. All recipients of the former citation earned the prestigious Bronze Star Medal.

Mr. Piccarreta earned additional awards and decorations towards his combat service. I am unable to confirm if he joined other members of his unit who fought the enemy as an infantryman. He would be entitled the Bronze Star Medal (First OLC), and the Combat Infantryman badge.
