I was just looking on the Coffin & Trout website missing all the beautiful jewelry...and read the words "David was"......OMGosh!!!...I stared at David's photo and thought to myself....David was one of the most talented, kind, REAL & honest, always open to beauty from the inside out...I could go on and on.....I use to work with David and found myself in Awe so many times with his many talents in designing jewelry and photography. David never gave up until his design was perfect. I learned so much from him....What lives on in my mind is his Sparkle* The light that will never die....and lives on in all the jewels he touched. God Bless You Kind One.....My heart goes out to the family & friends & Everyone at Coffin & Trout.

To Davids family and coworkers. I am sorry and shocked to hear of the passing of David. For years my husband has shopped at Coffin and Trout for gifts for me. Now my daughter is married and wears your jewelry too. Its a long standing joke that I am a walking advertisment for Coffin and Trout. Now I wear it sadder but prouder and with deep respect. David will be missed in our family. Jon and Stacey Strachan.

To the Family of David and the Coffin and Trout Jewelry Family,
David was so very good to our STYLE Club here at Corona del Sol High School. He allowed our members axis to the store so that we could have a front and back house tour. Along with Randy, Dean, Bridget, and Hilga, they always welcomed us warmly. His photography and design were brilliant! STYLE members always commented on how gracious, kind and informative he was about the jewelry industry.
On a personal note, Tony and I along with our 5 children send our sympathy to the entire family. We have been Coffin and Trout customers since we lived on Dobson Ranch across from the original store. From wedding rings, watches, pendants, repairs and cleaning
the Coffin and Trout family took superb care of our family.
I know how heartbreaking this is for all of you. God has just been blessed with a magnificent angel who will make sure everyone sparkles.
STYLE Club and the Occhiuzzi Family are blessed for knowing David Trout. He was a friend to all and had a heart of gold. God Bless David Michael Trout.
Love to you all,

To David's Family, My heart is heavy to learn of David's passing. We met David as we took the journey of a lifetime together to South Africa to explore the diamond world with 24 other jewelers from across the US through S A Gems in Chicago, Il. What a perfect gentleman, what a joy to be around, how his love of life touched everything and everyone around him. For 12 days our group spent 18 hours exploring this world so far beyond our imagination. We still have photos that David took of our safari framed and up in our home, what a splendid photographer he was! Early in my career at Wimmer's Diamonds in Fargo, ND, we did business with Coffin and Trout, and I will now treasure forever that tiny marquise shaped open piece that held a channel set round diamond. The first fine jewelry piece I ever purchased for myself. May he rest in peace, and God Bless the family and friends who knew and loved the man known as David Trout.

I grew up with Dave in Rock Island, Il. and enjoyed him elementary school, on the little league diamond, and as a fellow Rocky classmate of 1975. It was wonderful to have been able to sit and visit with Dave at the 30 year class reunion. There were over 700 classmembers and Dave stood out as one of the best. I am a friend of Dave and Kathleen's from Chillicothe. You may remember me as I am the girl in the wheelchair. I am so saddened and sorry for your loss. My memories of Dave are all humorous. We had such a good time when he and his buddies took me to the Fiesta Bowl. They were quite happy when they found that those in wheelchairs and their friends got to sit on the field!
I always told Dave I would not marry anyone who could not afford a Coffin and Trout engagement ring for me. Dave replied "If you can ever find anyone to marry you, I will make it affordable!"
You can be very proud of your son. I believe he will be the first member of the "Chilli Dawg" Hall of Fame.

Dear Marty, Barb, Christy, Jim, and family members, while I did not know David, I know his stellar family, and I wear a bracelet that he and Marty created to commemorate the death of my own son almost a year ago. Christy and Jim, you were rocks for me then, I will try to help in any way I can. I have been where you are now, when someone so precious is taken so quickly, there just are no answers, no reasons and very little comfort for those of us they leave behind. Knowing all of you, I feel I know David in a way, you are a family of extreme love and kindness, wisdom and wit. I look at my arm and see his creation, and can only say, "Keep on Keepin On" and will ask Gabe to ski with Dave and have a toast, sharing stories of what it was like to be part of such an incredible family. I love you all.

We are truly grief-stricken over the sudden loss of a wonderful man and fantastic friend. Our introduction back in the mid-80's has led to a friendship with Dave, Kathleen & his parents that endures to this day. We vacationed together on Maui & on the Big Island & had the time of our lives each trip. Dave's competitive spirit was a joy, whether cycling, golfing, or deep-sea fishing in Maui, & made him the wonderful guy that he will always be to those of us who knew & loved him.To Barb, Marty, Kathleen & all of the family: we are so very, very sorry for your loss.

How can a person describe what a 23 year friendship means in a few lines? I loved him like a brother, maybe more so. His honesty and enthusiasm was inspirational to everyone he came in contact with.
Dave's sudden passing has left a void in my life that I know will be difficult to fill. I know from this day forward I will strive to be the person that David saw in me.
It should also serve as a reminder to each of us, just how precious and fragile life can be. We should not take it for granted that we have plenty of time to express our feelings to our loved ones and to those who are special to us.
I will miss him for the rest of my life.
