Ed Lydic Obituary

Ed Lydic, 60, passed away on October 22, 2003, in Payson after a heart attack. He was born in Phoenix January 17, 1943, and lived most of his life in Arizona. Mr. Lydic was retired from 35 years in the food brokerage business. He had recently come out of retirement and worked for Matlock Gas. He was known in the community for his fundraising efforts and was commonly referred to as "Crazy Ed." He had lived in Payson since 1995 but weekended in Rim Country for many years before that. Ed was known for his lively take on life and his devotion to family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Carol; five children: Chris Taylor, Payson; Melissa Topper, Haymarket, Virginia; Jana Taylor-Riley, Phoenix; Jessica Lydic, Fairfax, Virginia; Amy Wathey, Seattle, Washington; his first wife, Mary Lydic Lippold; and 3 grandchildren, Ashlea, Brett and Jack. He is also survived by two brothers, Harold and Clarence, and a sister, Elnora Forgia. Memorial services are at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, October 25, 2003, at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 10030 N. 32nd Street, Phoenix, where he was a member for over 25 years. A second service is Monday, October 27, 2p.m. outdoors at Tonto Rancho Catch-A-Fish located on the Tonto Fish Hatchery Road east of Payson on Hwy 260. In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be made to the High Country Xeriscape Council of Arizona, HC 4 Box 14-D, Payson AZ 85541. Mr Lydic was a founder of this nonprofit organization.
