Fred Graef Obituary
Phoenix - Fred Martin Graef was born on June 27, 1935 in Iowa City, Iowa. Fred went home to be with the Lord on May 17, 2018. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in Des Moines, Iowa in 1953. He then attended Drake University for two years.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Lillian Graef. He will be missed by his wife Jackie of 52 years, two sons Fred (Jordel) of Phoenix and Tom (Chris) of Westborough, Massachusetts, his brother James (Sally) of Naperville, Illinois, three grandchildren Calvin, Joel and Mathilda of Phoenix, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Fred worked in sales and business for most of his working life. He was a salesman for White Eagle Building Materials. Prior to that he owned and managed two restaurants: Butch's Supper Club in Des Moines, Iowa and also a cafeteria in Phoenix, Arizona.
Fred loved sports. He played baseball and football in high school and college. He also enjoyed golf and basketball. He helped coach little league, Babe Ruth, and high school baseball teams in the 70's, 80's and 90's. For many years, he enjoyed trips to see the College World Series. Later in life he was passionate about supporting and rooting for his grandchildren when they played baseball, flag football, or competed in gymnastics. After Fred was baptized in 2014, he never wanted to miss going to Calvary Community Church on Sundays.
Memorial Services will be held for Fred at 11:30 am Wednesday, May 23rd at Sovereign Grace Bible Church in Phoenix (2940 W. Bethany Home Road)

Prophet Isaiah was inspired to write the verse at chapter 26:19 and Psalmist wrote at 37:29 encouragement for all who lose our loved ones and the hope we, too, have in view.

I hope you will get this note. I saw Fred's obituary in the paper yesterday. I was so saddened to hear of your loss! I have so many fond memories of stories you would tell of Fred when we were teaching together...oh so many years ago! I know the Lord will hold him safely, and warm you with all those wonderful memories as you try to adjust to your "new normal." Please know you will be in my prayers!! Sending you lots of hugs!
