Frederick Bonderud Obituary

Frederick Oscar Bonderud

Scottsdale - Frederick Oscar Bonderud, age 81, passed away from complications of CHF Friday April 20th, 2018 at Marilyn Manor, a caring and loving Group Home located in Scottsdale Arizona. He was born on March 5th, 1937 in Carrington, North Dakota to Oscar and Josephine (Hamel) Bonderud. Driven alone by his mother Josephine, Fred (age 5) made the pilgrimage west with his three brothers, sister, and their dog "Buttons" all the way to Pasadena, California in a '35 Chevy where some of the family still reside. Fred attended Herbert Hoover High School in Glendale California, lettered in football and baseball, was class president and voted prom king his senior year. Fred was awarded a football scholarship to attend Arizona State University from which he graduated with a degree in Marketing. Fred was a long-time resident of Paradise Valley, Arizona. He worked for Bristol Meyers, as a general manager in San Jose, California and later as a marketing executive in Syracuse, NY. Fred returned to Arizona and finished his career as a multiple business owner offering home care services to critically ill patients discharged from local hospitals. At one point his was one of the largest home infusion therapy companies in Phoenix. Fred lived a full and productive life. His interests and accomplishments are hard to sum up in a few words. He was a National Champion water skier, raced off- road motorcycles, was Commodore of the Lake Powell Yacht Club and houseboat owner for over 30 years, owned and piloted his own plane, was one of the last horse owners stabled in the Paradise Valley area and played tennis with a passion. Fred had the rare ability to offer support without criticism, was a fierce friend, mentor and generally brightened the life of most who knew him. He will be truly missed. Fred was preceded in death by his parents Oscar and Josephine Bonderud, his brother Richard (Dick), and sister Delores (Hertel). He is survived by his brother Joe; former wives, Sandra (Hand), Charlotte and Linda (Longazel); his children Mitch, Melinda (Walson), Mark, Melissa and step-children Greg and Kathleen (Mitchell); 6 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held on Saturday June 2nd, 2018 11am at the Messinger Pinnacle Peak Mortuary, 8555 East Pinnacle Peak Road, Scottsdale, Arizona. Family will greet friends and family at mortuary Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of memorial service.
