When my good buddy Barry and I were coming of age together, I was over at the Shemer House on a regular basis--his family was a second family. Jack was the big brother and protector that both Barry and I looked up to. Even at that young age, when he was in his high school years, you could see that Jack was a very special young man--a great athlete; a scholar; an entrepreneur and a leader. He couldn't have been a better example and role model for two mischievous urchins. I will miss Jack but his humane and honorable presence will always be with those two young men, now quite a bit older. Lots of love to the Shemer family and my friend of 60 years, Barry.

Dear Paula and Family,
We are deeply saddened by Jack's passing. I have so many fond memories of our friendship dating back to Occidental College as fraternity bro's. I'll never forget the time Jack asked me to teach him how to throw the discus. (As you know he was a tremendous baseball pitcher.) Long story short, I did tutor him and he beat all my marks! We remained dear friends over the years and I will treasure that friendship always. Ken and Janet Shannon, Twisp, Washington

Dorothy Elizabeth and I are saddened by JackE's passing. These last few years he has been fighting an uphill battle with health issues. He fought these problems with tenacity, purpose, and always with a positive attitude.
Dorothy Elizabeth and I will miss the times together at our homes, at the Shemer Art Center and at the Giants spring training games. We know our dear friend is no longer suffering and his spirit is with God. It was an honor to have known him and be his friend. Rest well my friend...J&DE

Reminescing about the good ol" days!
