John Dempsey Obituary

John Dempsey

Phoenix - John Francis Dempsey passed away unexpectedly on January 9, 2018.

John was born in Phoenix in 1983, spending his happy childhood in Flagstaff. Over the past sixteen years, John displayed grace, courage and kindness while living with a chronic illness.

In 2016 he earned his Associates degree in Social Studies with honors from Mesa Community College and just successfully completed his first semester at ASU. For several years he regularly volunteered at the ASU Center For Applied Behavioral Health Policy and at St. Vincent de Paul's. John had earned his Peer Support Counselor certification and upon completing his eduction at ASU sought to help others facing life's difficulties.

John was a faithful participant at St. Timothy's Parish in Mesa, loving the gifted clergy there and the quiet power and grace of the Catholic liturgy.

John's loves included his family, movies, art and music. He was a wonderful and loving soul. Although our world's a poorer place without him, he's now at Peace.

A Memorial Mass will be held for John at St. John Vianney in Sedona on Monday, January 29th at 11:00, preceded by a Vigil at Greer's Mortuary in Sedona on Sunday, January 28th at 7:00 PM. John is survived by his parents, Stephanie and Jack in Sedona and his brother Daniel in Los Angeles.

Jack and Steph,
I was very sad to hear the heartbreaking news about the loss of your son. This has to be a very difficult time for your family. It brought to mind a poem that was used when I lost my dad. Part of it goes:
God saw you were getting tired, and a cure was not to be,
so he put his arms around you and whispered, "Come to Me".
A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest
God broke our hearts to prove to us, he only takes the best.

I hope you are able to find some peace and comfort through your faith. Jack, you have always been a part of our family, and know we are all grieving for your loss. Take care, love to your family, Diane Nutter

Jack. I love u brother. Iam very sad to hear your news about John. I know u and Stef are children of God just as John was. His plans are not as ours , and we know he is in the hands of his maker . God is my strenght as i share that w so many since my health experience. My tattoo is a subject of conversation many a time w people i dont even know. Psalms 18 1-2 , it reminds me every day he is at my side just as he is w you , Stef , and Dan. He's called on John and as a believer, you r aware of where he is rt now. Remember last time we spoke , God put you in my life and with that you put him in mine , and ive spread his word w so many thanks to you. Bless u Jack , and your family , Bill
