When I lived in Glendale in the 1960´s, we attended St. Vincent de Paul when Father Sharpe was pastor. I last saw him in 1988 at a friends funeral mass. He looked the same. May he Rest In Peace.

Dearest Uncle John,

I will forever remember when you carried me the entire way to Ireland. I'm thankful to know and love you as a friend and family member and will cherish the special times we shared over the years.

Give Grandma a big hug for me and have her do the same for you. I will love and miss you both until I see you again.

I love you!

My wife Judy and I wish to share our sympathy with all the people of SVDP. We first become members of the parish in 1970 and remained until our retirement on 2000. We now travel year round in a motorhome but always manage to get to SVDP when we are in Phoenix.

It will not be the same without Father Sharpe, we will remember his resonant voice and his loving way with the children.

May he rest in peace and God bless us all for having known him.

Dear Fr. Sharpe,

How do I begin to thank you for everything you have given me? There aren't enough words.

Everything that I am, is because of the solid foundation you and the Sisters laid out for me so many years ago.

The 8 years I spent at St. Vincent's is one of the things I treasure most in life.

Of all the things I have been given in this life, my faith is the greatest gift of all.

The last time I saw you was at our 30th class reunion, Nov. 27th, 1999.

What a MAGICAL NIGHT that was!

Having you, Sr. Sharon, Sr. Carleen, Sr. Muriel (Merl Mountain) and all of my classmates all together in one room again, was like coming home.

It was more like a family reunion rather than a class reunion, because like brothers and sisters, we all grew up together, side by side, for 8 years.

Everyday for those 8 years, you were there, teaching us, guiding us and molding us into the people we are today.

I thank you. My classmates thank you and I know my parents thank you too. You will be greatly missed.

Even though you are gone from this earth, I know you will continue to teach and guide us from above, whispering softly, making sure that we continue to build on the foundation that you laid for us.

Should you see my sister Tracey, please say "hello" and tell her that I love her.

Love and Thanks,

Karen Ryan

Some people come into our lives and quickly go, some stay for a while, leave foot prints on our hearts and we are never the same. Thank you Fr. Sharpe for leaving your foot prints on the hearts of so many of us.

Father Sharpe,

I remember all the love and encouragement you always gave us when we were singing for the Church at St. Vincents so many years ago. I always love the hugs you passed on to all of us and you made me feel very important since the rest of my family was not Catholic and it was sometimes hard for me to explain my feeling. You made me feel like part of the family at St. Vincent. I spent alot of time with Patti Torsiello and the Torsiello Family and Fr. Sharpe you were definetly my angel that God sent down to me. Thank you and God Bless!

Love,

Father Sharpe, my friend, will be missed. He was very special to me as I was his altar boy for many many Masses. I always remember whenever we made a mistake, he would take a car key and run it across our neck from ear to ear making like he was slitting our throats. Of course back then the Mass was done in Latin and it was a lot tougher being an altar boy, having to learn all the prayers in Latin. He took several of us boys to Montebello to visit the seminary there to see if that was the path we wanted to take. His bribe was that we would also go to Disneyland. It was a great trip for all of us. My dad along with many other dads helped build St. Vincents. Officially I was the first person to enter the Church as I was the Thurifer and I led the procession into the church. I was honored to have him do the invocation at my Air Force retirement dinner in 1996. He always gave me words of encouragement throughout my 30 years in the Air Force. He was there for my dad when he died. He was loved by many and we were blessed to know him. He will be missed.
