Godzich, Dr. Leo Marc
52, from Phoenix, Arizona passed away due to an automobile accident while on a mission trip in Uganda, Africa. Born on April 30, 1959 in Soissons, France he is survived by his wife of 29 years, Molly and his daughters Emily, Bethany and Christy. Pastor Leo Godzich served as an associate pastor at Phoenix First Assembly of God church for over two decades under Pastor Tommy Barnett and received his Doctorate from Phoenix Theological Seminary for his work on a Scriptural Reference Guide. He, along with Molly his wife, founded the National Association of Marriage Enhancement (N.A.M.E.) a ministry to promote marriage and train and certify lay marriage counselors. There are over 200 NAME centers across the globe on six different continents. He was also the founder of the International Marriage Conference, an annual event that has drawn tens of thousands over the past sixteen years. He is the author of numerous books and training materials, including Is God in Your Marriage?, Men are from Dirt and Women are from Men, and Faith of Our Founding Fathers. In civic affairs he helped author and pass Covenant Marriage legislation in Arizona and Louisiana and was a founder of the Covenant Marriage Movement as well as serving as a member of the Arlington Group. He will perhaps be best remembered for the impact he had on individual marriages through personal counseling, the hundreds of marriage conferences he held and his speaking engagements at conferences around the world. A memorial service will be held today, Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at Phoenix First Assembly of God church, 13613 N. Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix AZ 85022 at 7 PM.
