Lisa Morton Obituary

Lisa Dumond Morton, a former Phoenix/Scottsdale resident, died tragically Monday, August 18, 2003 in Gilbert. Born in New Britain, CT., Lisa moved to Arizona, arriving on her 10th birthday, December 31st, 1974. Already an avid horseperson in CT and Rhode Island, she totally emersed herself in the Western way of life and her love of all animals. As a member of the Desert Dust Devils 4H Horse Club in the Sunburst Farms area, she won numerous awards on the local, county and state levels on her horses Chief and Misty. Also a member of the Scottsdale Saddle Club, she was an active participant in both gymkhanas and horse shows, as well as a trooper in the club's mustang mounted drill team for many years. Always with a fondness for the outdoors, as an adult she would very often spend weekends camping out at the lake, fishing with her family and friends, unless there was a sports event her sons were participating in, where she would be cheering from the sidelines. Educated in the Paradise Valley School District, she attended Desert Shadows Elementary and Middle Schools, and graduated from Horizon High School class of 1983. Although one of her first jobs was as a veterinarian assistant, her career path took a major turn, finding her excelling in the medical billing field. And she was happily employed at Arizona Spine Joint Hospital in Gilbert. Lisa leaves behind her two sons whom she cherished beyond words, Brandon, 12, and Justin, 9; her mother and stepfather, Valerie and Thomas Altgilbers of Scottsdale; her sister, Janine/husband Fred Sutter; nephews, Kyle and infant Cole of Gilbert; step-brother Paul/wife Jennifer Altgilbers; nephew, Christian; niece, Courtnie of Phoenix; former husb. Ross Morton/ Tonya A. Turner of Fountain Hills; father, Ray Dumond and stepsister, Julie of New Hampshire. Also grandmother, Walerja Lesczynski and godmother, Wanda Mercier, both in CT; and a variety of aunts/uncles/cousins around the country. A gathering of friends and family will be held Saturday, August 23rd, 1PM at the Shenandoah Mill, 1359 S. Gilbert Rd. (between Warner and Ray) to share memories and thoughts. An educational trust fund has been established at Bank of America, account #0046-5360192. There are no words to express how much she will be missed by all whose lives she touched before she was taken from us so suddenly. National Cremation Society.
