Mark you are most certainly remembered and not just on this day. Neil Corbin shared with me some hysterical stories with you as the main actor. you sir, were quite a character! i have my own memories of you being incredibly sweet and kind at an age when boys didnt really behave like that. you are such a good soul i often feel like it was a mistake to have taken you to heaven cuz we need more angels like yourself down here. i did see that your baby girl works for the city-she followed right in daddy's footsteps. so sweet. i hope that u r resting in peace. nothing but great memories of you.

Bethel Family,

I just recently found out about Mark's untimely death and I'm in shock. All I know is that I was one of the lucky ones that had the privilege of knowing Mark. We grew up together at Pima School all the way through SHS. He was a funny man and a great friend. I will miss him dearly.

My condolences to the entire Bethel family.

Dear Stacey- I was so sad to get a message from Becky about Mark passing away. I remember him being one of the most genuinely kind, good hearted people I had ever met. Couple that with his incredible sense of humor and it's easy to see why so many people would be devastated by this loss. My heart goes out to you and your kids as you deal with what must be tremendous grief right now.
Much love,

February 9, 2008

Stacey, I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with Mark at the City for several years in the mid-90's. My memories of Mark bring a smile to my face, he was so happy, so fun to be around, he always had something really funny to say and I could tell above everything he loved his family very much. I worked with his mother too and she was such a neat lady, who loved her kids and grandkids so. I am so shocked to hear of Mark's death. There is no way we can ever understand something like this and we can't even attempt to try. I know our heavenly Father can only offer peace in times like these when nothing else will help. May God be with you and your children throughout the rest of your lives and may He guide you as you try to fill Mark's void. I will be praying for you tonight.

Stacey: I'm so sorry...my heart goes out to you. Know that "The LORD is near to the brokenhearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit." Psalm 34:18
Sidney and John: I'm so sorry that you have to go through this. Knowing your father, I'm sure that he treasured every moment he was blessed to spend with you.
Mark: I want to thank you my brother, for being my closest childhood friend. After our initial fight in the bike racks in the 3rd grade to see who was toughest, I depended on you as a confidant who never saw my skin color (unless of course there was some humor to be had - "I wish I were Black"), but always made me feel good. That's it...yeah, you were funny, but what separated you was that God given ability to make those around you feel good...thanks so much for that, I'll always love you for that my friend.

I am saddened to learn of Mark's passing. I was a neighbor of the Bethels for years, went to Pima school with Mark and enjoyed singing the Beach Boys with Mark, Andy Bagnato and Trent & Cathy Carnahan; he was a formidable match for my dad at the game of chess (he was only 12 at the time!). May God Bless you and your children and Mark's memory will be forever in your hearts.

Stacey, Sydney and John,
Mark was the most amazing man I have ever met; kind, patient, caring, encouraging, respectful and so incredibly funny - his dry sense of humor was the best! It was an honor and privilege to work with Mark. He truly cared for others and adored his family. Mark touched many lives...so grateful he touched mine. My thoughts, prayers and deepest condolences go out to you.

Cathy McIntyre (Trostheide)

February 7, 2008

To the Bethel Family -

I also attended Scottsdale High and graduated with Mark and later worked with him at the City of Scottsdale. Mark was always a sweet guy - even though he was a popular football player in high school, he was never the "cocky jock" - he was always nice to everyone. He was the same way his whole life.

My Dad also passed away this Sunday so I share the hurt you are feeling right now, but I also share our hopes and prayers for them that they are now enjoying the peace and happiness of God's presence in heaven. Your family is in our prayers.

Gretchen Holt

February 7, 2008

Stacey and family - My heartfelt sympathies to all of you. I worked in Human Resources at the City and assisted the Community Assistance Office. I always looked forward to working with Mark because he was a genuinely nice guy, had a good sense of humor, and a warm smile and laugh! It was fun to just talk and visit with him. Mark cared about his work and staff was a pleasure to work with. When I left the City, Mark was very kind in his comments and it meant a lot to me. He will be missed.
