Patrick Donovan Obituary

Patrick W. Donovan

Glendale - Patrick W. Donovan, age 73, a Glendale resident, passed away in the early morning hours of April 19, 2021 at Hospice of the Valley after a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. Patrick was born on September 28, 1947 in Sioux Falls, SD. He was the second of four children born to Harold W. Donovan and Lavra Myrtle (Graves) Donovan. Patrick and his siblings were taken to the Presentation Children's Home in Sioux Falls in 1956. Older sister, Michelle Donovan (Steinfeldt), would prove to be his defender and advocate through multiple seasons of his life. Patrick's two younger brothers, Daniel C. Donovan, and Timothy Donovan would follow him to Boys Town Nebraska where Patrick graduated in 1965.

Patrick met Marlene C. Bueltel (Paahao) in Omaha, NE in 1966, and they were married in August 1967. The same year, Patrick served in the US Army and proudly did a tour in Vietnam. Patrick and Marlene built a beautiful life and welcomed three children; Tracy, Heather and Kyle. Patrick worked in sales during his younger years and in education later in life.

In 1993 Patrick married Ginnye DeMers in Colorado Springs, CO. After losing Ginnye to cancer in 1998, Patrick relocated to Surprise, AZ to be with his daughter Tracy and his grandson Joshua.

Patrick would go on to meet his soulmate in Mary Lou Morici in 2000. Together they celebrated the birth of nine grandchildren and were able to travel extensively during the 21 years of their life together.

In retirement Patrick learned that he possessed an artistic talent that blossomed every time he put brush to canvas. He also learned to play the piano through many hours of online Instruction. Patrick's infectious laughter and his loving personality will be dearly missed by his family and friends, but they will never be forgotten.

Patrick is survived by his partner and soulmate, Mary Lou Morici, Glendale, AZ; Daughter Tracy C. Knupp, Louisville, CO; daughter Heather R. Thomas, son-in-law Dave Thomas, Yankton, SD; son Kyle P. Donovan, daughter-in-law Malaka Donovan, Santa Clarita, CA; siblings Michelle Steinfeldt, Belfast, ME and Dan Donovan, Colorado Springs, CO; Stepdaughters Andrea Morici and Jacqueline Stoller, step son-in-law Mark Stoller, Phoenix, AZ and 12 grandchildren and a great granddaughter.

Due to current COVID restrictions the family will be having a private service at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, Phoenix. Please offer condolences at www.heritagefuneralchapels.com.
