Randolph Moore

Scottsdale - Randolph Gaylon Moore, 87, of Scottsdale, passed away on April 24, 2018 in Fountain Hills, Arizona. Randy was born July 31, 1930 in Los Angeles, CA, to LeGrande and Violette (Dixon) Moore, the eldest of three children. He attended California Technical Institute and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. Randolph then served in the Navy, where he was stationed at Atsugi Naval Air Station in Japan. After his Navy service, he attended the University of Arizona where he earned a Master's in Electrical Engineering. He worked as an electrical engineer for Motorola in the Government Electronics Division, and was honored as a Dan Noble Fellow of Motorola for his many patents. He retired in 1988, but continued to work as a consultant for both Frontier Engineering and STS. Randy married Wilma Ann Ritzmann on June 14, 1958 and they shared 37 years of marriage until Wilma passed away in 1995. Years later, he found love again at Scottsdale Community College Fitness Center meeting Dorothy Metzger. Randy enjoyed tending to his yard and gardening, as well as swimming, hiking, biking, playing basketball and most of all loved hosting volleyball parties! He was most proud of his grandchildren and loved spending time with them, his family and friends. Randy is survived by his children, Cynnthia Moore of Denver, CO, Vikki (Christopher) James of Fountain Hills, AZ, and Donald Moore of Phoenix, AZ, six grandchildren, Varuna, Trevor, Randy, Tatum, Taylor and Rose, his longtime companion Dorothy Metzger of Paradise Valley, AZ, his sisters Janet (Bill) Smith of Mesa, AZ, and CarolAnn Moore of Payson, AZ, niece Karin Lusk-Rydin and nephew Kent Smith. He is preceded in death by his parents, LeGrande and Violette, wife, Wilma Ann, and sons Billy and Doug. Randy will be remembered for his humble, kind, caring and loving manner with all those he encountered. He was truly respected and admired by everyone he knew. A Celebration of Life will be held at Messinger Indian School Mortuary on Wednesday, May 23 at 11:00 am. Donations can be made to Hospice of the Valley.
