Robert Kempton Obituary
Gilbert - Robert Glenn Kempton, 75, passed away Friday, June 15, 2018 at his home in Gilbert, AZ, surrounded by his family. Robert was born in Solomonville, AZ and moved with his family to Tempe, AZ in 1950 where he graduated from Tempe High School. He later served an LDS mission in Virginia and North Carolina. Robert began dating his sweetheart Barbara Ellingson in 1964 and they later married in the Mesa Arizona Temple in 1965. Robert and Barbara raised their 8 children in Tempe. Robert's greatest joy was his eternal family. He loved spending time with his family and will be remembered lovingly as "Papa" to his sweet grandchildren.
He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and developed a strong testimony of Jesus Christ and His atoning sacrifice, of which he freely expressed and lovingly taught to his children and grandchildren.
Robert was a respected attorney and member of the community, serving on the Tempe Union High School Governing Board and the Board of Directors for Salt River Project for many years.
Robert is survived by his "angel-wife," Barbara, of 53 years; children, Richard, Scott, DeeAnn, Brad, David, Lori, Michael, and Lisa; 33 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brother, Martin Kempton; and sister, Shirley Snedigar.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, June 20, 2018 from 6-8pm, followed by services on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at 10am. Both will be at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1010 S Recker Rd, Gilbert, AZ.

Robert G. Kempton was an amazing gospel doctrine and a great Stake President. He always brought the spirit when he taught and spoke. On June 4, Robert and Michael flew to LV to attend the funeral for my sons who died in a car accident. I will remember his compassion. My thoughts and prayers are with Barbara and the Kempton family.

I was sorry to hear the world lost this wonderful man. He was a great example to me as a child, and I loved hearing his stories. I am grateful for his example, his kindness, and gentle demeanor. My condolences to you, Sister Kempton, and your family.

Very sad to hear this news. I heard of his passing too late and was unable to attend the services. He was a friend a mentor and a next-door neighbor to me. He was a great person and I am very sad to hear of his passing. I look forward to seeing him in the next life.

Robert is a cherished friend. Robert always wanted to focus on the other person never on himself. He was and always will be a great example to me. I love Robert like a brother. He will be greatly missed., where ever he is on the other side of the veil he will excell.

So sorry to hear of the loss of a Husband, Father and Grandfather. Will always remember the kindness and warmth of Pres. Kempton. He always made me feel welcome and greeted me each time i saw him with a smile and genuine interest in my life.
"The only length of life that seems to satisfy the longings of the human heart is life everlasting." (Pres. Nelson). So grateful for the plan of salvation and for all those who were taught it by this good man and for the blessing it is to Robert and his family.

May the many memories Robert helped create find root in your heart and bring special recollection to your mind as you both mourn and celebrate his wonderful life, and may God bless you as you deal with his passing. Barbara, I loved Robert like a brother and cherished every moment I spent with him. He was devoted to you and his beautiful family and loved you eternally. If there is anything I can do to ease the burden, please let me know. I have a doctor's appointment the morning of his services, with my cardio vascular surgeon, but will try to come to the viewing this evening if possible. Love to all...
