Robert Young Obituary
Robert A. Young passed away peacefully on June 4th 2020 after a long illness with dementia. He was born on May 11th, 1946 in Elmhurst, Illinois. Bob was a US Navy Veteran and served in the Naval Security Group during the Vietnam War. After his military service he settled in Naperville, Illinois and became Deputy Treasurer of Dupage County, Illinois. Bob was active in many organizations, including the Rotary. He received the Paul Harris Fellowship Award from the Rotary Club of Naperville. He also served for a time as Chairman of the United Way of Suburban Chicago.
While living in Naperville, he and predeceased wife, Kathryn and their son Scott, enjoyed a life full of activities and travel. They had always planned to have a home in Arizona. After retiring and becoming a widower, Bob moved to Arizona in 2001.
Throughout his 74 years, he enjoyed traveling, fishing, hunting, and his many friendships. He loved to work outdoors, and was often teased about doing his "Zen Raking". Bob married Anna Balentine in 2003. They loved to travel and explore in their motor home, making new friends along the way. Before the dementia took hold, Anna and Bob also enjoyed traveling in Europe, visiting various countries and many wonderful sites.
Bob was a gentle, kind person, and he was always ready to help anyone in need. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Anna Balentine-Young; Scott Young; grandsons Cooper, Alex, and Max; Paul and Kim Balentine; Cliff and Romy Balentine; granddaughters,Tess, Audrey, Claire and Summer.
A memorial service will be held at a later date, to be announced. The family asked for any donations to be made to the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration, AFTD. Please visit hansenmortuary.com for online condolences.
