I reflect back to the time I spent in the "Office of the President" back in 1979 when Dr. Berry was Phoenix College's President. As a student worker, I was eager to learn and he always was kind and thoughtful. It has been my pleasure to be part of his world and he part of mine as I grew in my profession as a member of the Maricopa Community Colleges family.

Sincerely,
Irene Ruiz

Oh my! I have so many memories growing up and being with Bill, Alice, Peggy and Leeann. I have few memories of my father but a lot of them are with your family. I'm smiling just thinking about many hours we spent together. Bill is one reason I taught for 30 years. What a legacy and thanks to all of you for being so special to me while growing up and dealing with my fathers death. Love to all if you!

Dr Bill Berry was wonderfully helpful to me when I arrived as the new Chancellor in the Maricopa District. He introduced me to the rural presidents, community leaders, and gave wise counsel on the operations of the District. I will miss his humor, his support, and his leadership at Phoenix College and his other community endeavors. He was always honorable and ethical and as a superb professional in education. We will miss him..... Paul and Joyce Elsner

Raising a glass in honor of one of the most amazing "Dad's" I knew. I am so blessed to have had his influence as a young girl as friends with Sandi. He was the "DAD" we all wished was our own. Thank you to "Mr. Berry" for making a difference in all of our Worlds. My heart and prayers to all of the family. With Love.

My deepest sympathies on your loss. I have fond memories of the time I worked in "the President's Office" where I had the honor of knowing Dr. Berry. He was always ready with a smile and kind words to guide and direct me in my job duties and, when asked, in my personal dilemmas. His kindness and caring is what I remember of him. Respectfully, Irene

I interviewed and was hired at Phoenix College by President "Bill" Berry in 1985. We always had so much fun talking golf. He was such a dignified, genuine and kind man. The world and our college were better because of him.

"We are never prepared for the loss of someone we love so dearly, but God is always prepared to help us through that loss. May His presence begin the healing your hearts and souls and may His love surround you with the comfort only He can give." Our many prayers are going to be with your family at this time. My immediate thoughts that come to me are "What a great principal - what a great man!" I don't know that I really understood what it took to be such a great educational leader until I put my own children through school. Bill was so motivating and always so up and happy; but mostly, 'he always remembered your name'. He had such a generous heart. How blessed you were to have his influence and love in your lives on a daily basis; I was blessed to have him in my life at Washington High School, he truly made a difference in mine. My heart, thoughts and love is with you all!
