Dona VanDyke Obituary

Dona Rae Van Dyke of Flagstaff, Arizona passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at the age of 68. A deeply loved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and cherished friend to many.

Dona Rae was born on August 23, 1946 in Santa Cruz, CA.  A few years later her family moved to Colton, CA where she met and married her husband of 40 years, Gary Van Dyke, who preceded her to Heaven in 2004. After a few years of marriage, Gary and Dona, along with their 2 young boys, moved to Flagstaff where they lived for the past 37 years.

First and foremost, Dona was a wife, mother and grandmother; roles she mastered to perfection. During her long and illustrious career, she also managed to work at DPS, Flagstaff High School, NAU and Amity Inspections, the drafting and home inspection company that she and Gary started.

Dona loved cooking and was known for hosting family and friends for gatherings where laughing was contagious. She was a warm, caring, generous person who immediately made one feel like part of her family. If you stopped by her house, you could count on being put to work and then fed generously for your efforts. She was completely devoted to her family and her boys above all. Though now gone, her family rests in peace that she is reunited with her God, husband and all those that have gone before her. She will not be forgotten by all those fortunate enough to have known her.

A Celebration Open House for friends & family will be on Aug. 22nd & 23rd, 10am-5pm.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations to Christ's Church of Flagstaff are encouraged.
