Samuel Comly Reddig passed away on May 21, 2025.
Born in Flagstaff on August 27, 1996, Sam grew up immersed in forests, canyons, and mountains that inspired his lifelong love of nature. He graduated from Flagstaff Arts and Leadership Academy, where he was recognized as a talented actor and accomplished artist. He went on to attend the U of AZ and Western State University in Gunnison, CO. Later, he pursued his interest in technology at Coconino Community College.
Sam's formative summers were spent at camps in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado and the wilds of Maine. These experiences shaped his passion for outdoor leadership. As a camp counselor, he led backpacking trips along the Appalachian Trail and canoe expeditions through Northeastern waterways.
In recent years, while working toward IT certifications, Sam remained committed to causes close to his heart. He volunteered with local organizations including High Country Humane. His bond with a fostered and later adopted dog Kato was especially meaningful; the two shared many adventures until Kato's passing.
Sam was a dedicated bicyclist who chose cycling as his primary mode of transportation to reduce his environmental impact. He expressed his creativity through music, composing original songs and producing content in a home studio. Guided by a strong moral compass, he actively supported marginalized communities and advocated for social justice.
He is deeply missed by his parents, Deb Comly and Michael Reddig; siblings Kelsey Petterson, Rose Reddig, Willow Reddig; nieces and nephews Marloe, Zion, Royalty, Jamaica, Legacy; stepmother Susan Conger.
A gathering to honor Sam's life will be held at 1 p.m., September 13, 2025, at The Flagstaff Federated Church, 400 W Aspen Ave, Flagstaff.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to High Country Humane in Flagstaff.
