Darlene Moore Obituary

Darlene Jane Moore 1937 - 2009 Darlene Jane Andreatta was born March 23, 1937 in McFarland, California, the second daughter of Andy and Dovie Andreatta. She passed away Sunday, March 29, 2009 in Bakersfield, California. She grew up and attended school in McFarland. On December 25, 1954 she married her high school sweetheart, Donald E. (Pete) Moore, Sr., and together they had five children. Darlene spent her young years raising her family. Tragically in 1981 she lost the love of her life, Don. Bravely, she went on to live a life full of new experiences and adventures. She took classes at Bakersfield College and entered the field of interior design. She worked for numerous furniture stores, Wall Papers to Go and ended her working career at Home Depot. Home Depot offered her many opportunities and in 1995 she transferred to the newly opening Home Depot in Boise, Idaho. Through her work and church, Idaho became her new home and extended family. Darlene was a member of St. Marks Catholic Church and participated in many of its community outreach programs including the Renewal program and the Food Bank. Throughout her life, Darlene had a great love of reading and always wanted to visit the places that she read about. To that end, she traveled every opportunity she had, whether it was to visit family or friends or just to see something new and exciting. One of her last and most memorable trips was an African safari that she took in the fall of 2006. Darlene will be remembered for sharing all that she had with those that had a need, whether great or small, family or friend. She believed in living life to the fullest with no regrets. She was a positive individual who always found the good in persons and situations. She had a fierce love for her children and grandchildren, Neil Diamond and his music, her "little red Corvette", a Coke over ice and her pets, Chelsea and Charley. She is survived by her children: Diane Ashburn of Bakersfield, Donald Moore, Jr. (Lorraine) of Grants Pass, OR, Donna Nunes (Mike) of Oceano, CA, Denise Anderson (Ed) of Diamond Springs, CA, Deanna Branson (Gary) of Woodinville, WA, 13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and her sisters, Shirley Andreatta of Tucson, AZ and Wanda Andreatta of Sun Valley, CA. Viewing will take place on Friday, April 3, from 10-11:30 a.m., at Delano Mortuary, 707 Browning Road, Delano, CA, followed by graveside services at 1 p.m. at North Kern Cemetery District, Delano, CA. A memorial service will also be held in Boise, Idaho.

Diane, Donnie, Donna, Denise, and Deanna: I was sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. I had to smile when I read her obituary because you conveyed the love and respect you have for her, and the things you shared about how she will be remembered are things that I remember too. I also remember her infectious laugh. Time passes so quickly that it seems like yesterday when the Moore and Greenfield families shared the alley between Sherwood Avenue and California Avenue. I can still remember being outside and seeing your mom down at the fire station visiting your dad while he was on duty. I know you miss them both. My love and prayers to all of you and your families.

Diane & Shelly: I was sorry to hear of the passing of your mother and grandmother. We sure shared some good laughs at your place in SW Bakersfield about a million years ago.
