Joe Rose Obituary

JOE DON ROSE

January 2, 1934 - July 1, 2023

Joe Rose was born in Kiowa County, Ok to Rufus Isaac and Neeva Nell Rose. In 1952, he met his wife Peggy at Midwestern University in Wichita Falls, TX. Joe served in the US Marine Corp for two years. When he returned home, he and Peggy were married 1957.

In 1959, Joe graduated with his degree in Petroleum Engineering from Oklahoma University and began a successful career traveling the world working in the oil industry. He and Peggy settled in Bakersfield in 1977. In that year, he became a partner in a start-up independent oil company, Petro Resources, Inc. He enjoyed his work very much and worked until he was no longer able to earlier this year. Joe was recognized as the oldest working petroleum engineer by the American Association of Petroleum Engineers.

Joe came to know Jesus as his Lord and Savior at a Christian camp as a teenager. He lived his life from a deep Christian faith and served his community in a variety of ways, including leading Bible studies with the kids at juvenile detention center and with Youth for Christ. A loving father and grandfather, Joe was greatly dedicated to his family. He was kind and friendly to others, sensitive to people and their needs, and often a father to the fatherless.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Wanda Gayle Loughlin, nephew Scott Loughlin and niece Sherry Rose Loughlin, and beloved daughter Karen Rose Turner.

Joe is survived by his wife of 66 years Peggy Rose, son Kent and daughter-in-law Sherry Rose, grandson Wilson and his wife Carie Rose and their children, granddaughter Stacy and her husband Noe Ortiz and their children, and great granddaughter Danika Rose.

For the past two years, Stacy Ortiz has been her grandparent's primary caregiver, loving them well with her constant support and care. Joe was blessed in his life with a wonderful extended family as well as many loving and loyal friends, including Darla Williams and Kim Whitaker with years of faithful dedication to Petro Resources. Special thanks also to the compassionate caregivers who have helped with Joe's care in recent months.

Joe Rose passed from this world into the arms of his heavenly Father peacefully in his sleep. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends, but we are confident that he is now experiencing fullness of joy in the presence of his Lord, Jesus. Joe's Celebration of Life will be held on July 24, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Valley Baptist Church, 4800 Fruitvale Avenue. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider supporting the camp programs at Valley Baptist Church.

I was deeply saddened to learn about the passing of our dear neighbor, Joe Rose. It is with a heavy heart that we extend our heartfelt condolences to Peggie and family during this difficult time.

Joe was not just a neighbor but a remarkable man who touched the lives of so many with his kindness, gentleness, and generous spirit. His devotion to faith was evident, and his unwavering belief in God served as an inspiration to all who knew him.

Over the past 50 years, Joe had been our neighbor who was, always willing to lend a helping hand and provide great conversation filled with fascinating stories. His presence in our lives was a true blessing, and his absence will undoubtedly leave a void that cannot be filled.

I will forever cherish the memories of Joe's willingness to support my children with their piano practice. His generosity and willingness to assist whenever needed were remarkable traits that defined his character.

Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this time of mourning. May the loving memories of Joe bring you comfort and strength in the days ahead. If there is anything we can do to support you during this difficult period, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Although I hadn't known Mr Rose a long time, it was long enough for me to see his kind and gentle spirit. I helped care for Mr Rose at CBCC in the Infusion Center. He was ALWAYS pleasant ...he is definitely going to be missed.

Thankful for the privilege of having called Joe Rose a friend. He is an example to follow. He will be welcomed by His Lord and Savior; not because he was such a good guy, but because he understood his need for a Savior.

My dad and I loved you so much! Our very own chosen Father and Grandpa! You loved my dad like your very own son! You showed and loved him so much and myself no less.
You are the closest man to God that I ever met! Your heart spoke His words and I felt Him in your presence. We love you so much Joe Rose! God Bless You and grandma Peggy! God has His disciple home. You served all one man could possibly serve God and more. More then we all have ever seen.
We already miss your voice on that phone weekly so much! If my dad could write this himself he would! I know these would be my dad´s as well though bc I read it to him before I sent it.
Stacy, we love you so much too! I personally know we´ve grown to love each other as true sisters! Allowing them to send love to each other every week!
If not not twice a week, meant the world to my dad and I. Thank you for all you did and continue to do for him. Taking care of Peggy constantly is all your Pop´s could ever want. You make him so proud every second of every day!
We love you all so much as our very own family. Thank you all for sharing him with my dad and I!

Blessings, Prayers and Love, Always!

Although I´ve only known Joe for a handful of years, he told me some amazing stories about his life. He was an honorable man, and I´m forever grateful he hired me on with the Petro Resources family. Rest In Peace Mr Rose
