LONDON , Allen Joseph 'Big Al'
Allen Joseph London 'Big Al', 49, of West Haven, CT departed this life on February 18, 2009. Allen was a recently retired Classification Program Officer with the Juvenile Detention Center for the State of CT. He was a graduate of the University of New Haven and held a Masters Degree in Sociology from Antioch College in New Hampshire. Allen was known for his larger than life, charismatic personality. As a proud member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc, he was very active in charitable community organizations and was involved in the local political arena. Allen was the beloved son of Regina London and the late Richard London, Jr. He is survived by his three loving daughters, Collette London, Jazmin Jackson and Kimana London; three dear granddaughters, Cara, Soriya, and Eriana; three devoted brothers, Richard London, III, Martin London and Glenn London and two doting sisters, Karen London-Melendez and Gail D. Patterson and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Paul's Church, 898 First Avenue West Haven, CT. Thursday, February 26, 2009 at 10 A.M. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 from 4-8 P.M. at The Howard K. Hill Funeral Services, 1287 Chapel Street New Haven, CT. 06511.
