G. Dreisch Obituary

G. Norman "Norm" Dreisch, 84, of Harrisonburg, VA, formerly of Baltimore, Maryland, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2024. Born in Baltimore on June 24, 1940, he dedicated his life to education, family, and church.

Norman attended Little Flower Elementary and graduated from Calvert Hall College in 1958. He furthered his education at St. Mary's Seminary (St. Charles), Loyola College, the University of Maryland, and Louisiana State University.

His teaching career began in 1960 at Calvert Hall, followed by a position at St. Paul's Latin High School. He later became Dean and Professor of Mathematics at the Community Colleges of Baltimore County (Essex), impacting countless students throughout his career. In addition to his academic pursuits, Norman was the proud owner of Harris Cove Cottages Bed 'n Boat in St. Michaels, Maryland.

Norman married Joan in 1963, and they had two sons, Mike and Dave. He was also the proud grandfather of two grandchildren, Lleyton and Maeve, and had three step-grandchildren: Mady, James, and Mary-Hagen. For many years, he served as the choir director at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Fallston, Maryland, leading the congregation in song during the 10:30 mass every Sunday. Norman cherished his family and took great pride in sharing his love for Orioles baseball, the Colts, and crabbing.

He is remembered for his contributions to education with donations made in his memory to Calvert Hall College High School.

Norman is survived by his loving wife, sons, brothers Tom and Rick, sister Jayne, and extended family. He leaves a legacy of kindness, dedication, and a well-lived life that his community will deeply miss.

A memorial service will be held later to celebrate his life and contributions to his community.

We have many wonderful memories of Norm and Joavnie who we met in St Martin. Norm was always ready to entertain everyone with wonderful antidotes of his and Joanies life. Although we haven't seen them in many years we will certainly remember him with fond thoughts. RIP Norm

Norm sling with his wife Joan were like family. Our visits to Harris Cove were magical. Norm would shave ice for our daughters in exchange for s'mores. Joan taught us how to make seashell trinket holders. He will be missed. Our thoughts are with your family.

Please accept my deepest condolences.
Norm and I were in the same homeroom at Calvert Hall. Every morning at roll call they would call his name just before mine (Dreisch-Dressel. I missed not seeing Norm and his smile at the 65th Class Reunion last September.
This was the first time he missed one.

Norm was a classmate and friend at the HALL. We could count on him to liven up the group just by being there. My prayers are with you.

Norm was a very loyal alumnus of Calvert Hall. He and Joan kindly hosted Br. John Kane, president, fellow alumni and I at their home in Florida. We are most thankful for his service to Calvert Hall as a faculty member and his support of all things Calvert Hall. The Calvert Hall community will be offering prayers for Norm and the family.
