On November 12, 2014, LT. JAMES E. BETHEA Survived by wife; Dr. Brenda Pridgen, son; Darryl A. Bethea (Tia M.), parents; James and Margarine Bethea, sister; Darlene Bethea, grandson; Ethan J. Bethea, and a host of other family and friends. Viewings will be held Tuesday November 18, 2014 and Wednesday November 19, 2014 at the Family Owned Wylie Funeral Home 701 N. Mount St. 3 PM- 5 PM and resuming 7 PM-9 PM both days. Funeral Services will be held Thursday at Cathedral of Mary Our Queen, 5200 N. Charles St, 11:00 AM. Internment Immediately Following. I use to love to go to Brenda and Lonnie's when he would cook breakfast. Lonnie was a great cook. I'm happy that I was a friend to him and Brenda, and that she and I are still friends. You are missed Lonnie!

My heart goes with you. I was privileged to have known James - he was a kind, intelligent, and caring soul. He found a way - and the time - to mentor younger firefighters.. including the occasional wayward Canadian. Rest in peace, Lt. You were one of a kind and will be missed greatly.

To the Family (My Baltimore City Fire Department family)& Friends. I have known James & Darlene since i was 5. I'm so very sorry to hear about the passing of James(Jimmy) as he was like a big brother to me. I would see him and he would ask me often about my family & younger brother, Whom was also a firefighter that he mentored in the late 70's. Your loss is also mine. He is now in good hands and will be truly missed. My prayers and condolences go out to you all.

My condolences to James' entire family. I worked with him many, many years ago, at Murphy's in Mondawmin, and he went through the Academy with my ex-husband, Capt. Mosteller. James was a kind and gentle person with a good word for everyone. I know he will be deeply missed by his entire family and the Dept.
