James F. Salmon
James Salmon Obituary
100, died at Manresa Hall, Merion Station, PA, on August 17, 2025. Father was preceded in death by his parents, James F. and Genevieve (McCarthy) Salmon. He is survived by his cousin, Gale Richardson, and his Jesuit brothers.
Father Salmon, a native of Long Island, NY, entered the Society of Jesus in 1950 and was ordained to the priesthood in 1964. After earning a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania, Father taught at Loyola College in Baltimore and Wheeling University in West Virginia, and served as President of Loyola Blakefield in Baltimore. He also held the position of Treasurer for the Maryland Province of the Society of Jesus.
Funeral services will be held privately at Manresa Hall, with burial to follow at the Jesuit Cemetery in Woodstock, MD. A memorial Mass for Fr. Salmon will be celebrated at Loyola University Maryland sometime in the fall.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the USA East Province, Society of Jesus, 39 E. 83rd Street, NY, NY 10028.
