Larry Meekins Obituary

Larry Eugene Meekins, 68, of Finksburg, died on January 7, 2022 at home. Born March 16, 1953 in Garrison, MD, he was the son of the late Lawrence Aubrey Meekins and Jean Ruth Edmonson Meekins. He was the loving husband of 46 years to Debra Ann Meekins.

To Deb and Meekins family. Larry meant so much to all that knew him. He was a leader, mentor, such a great person in every way. With out a doubt the best pitching coach ever. I had the pleasure of 9 straight years catching Larry´s pitchers enjoying and learning all of his mechanics while Larry not only explained to his younger pitchers he actually put them in a positive position to get the most out of every pitch. Larry is and always will be the best trainer of all coaches. Tears today ran down my face I loved this guy. I will never forget you my friend. Coach GarySlade

Deepest sympathies to the Meekins family. Larry was simply the best baseball AND soccer player I ever had the pleasure of sharing a field with. His athletic talents were equaled by his love of family, his straightforwardness and honesty. He always looked you straight in the eye and you knew where you stood with Larry. It was an honor to know him. He will live on in the hearts and minds of family, friends, coworkers, classmates and teammates. One of a kind.

Coach Meekins, thank you for setting such a great example for so many of us, for so many years, when we were too young to know that´s what you were doing. How amazing to know you coached for 25 years! You will be missed.
