Marlene Kuntz Obituary

Marlene B. Kuntz (nee Becker), passed away on Monday, August 19th, 2024, at the age of 91. She is survived by her devoted children, David (Lisa) Kuntz, Debra (Jon) Waranch, Dr. Richard (Odalis) Kuntz and Michael (Debra) Kuntz; adored grandchildren, Jennifer (Geoff) McDonald, Micah (Amy) Kuntz, Samantha Kuntz (Asa Kurland), Dr. Danielle Waranch (Steve Bilenky), Joshua (Ellen) Waranch, Allison (Mike) Kafka, Oliver (Caroline) Kuntz, Erin Kuntz, Taylor Kuntz and Kendall Kuntz, and 17 adored great grandchildren; dear sister, Judith (Len) White; She was predeceased by her loving husband of over 72 years, Benjamin D. Kuntz; and devoted parents, Miriam and Dr. Samuel M. Becker.

Marlene grew up in Washington, D.C. and graduated at age 16 from Calvin Coolidge High School. She spent her summers as a camper and later a counselor at Camp Louise, maintaining lifelong friendships; even returning for reunions into her eighties. She attended the University of Maryland and left early to marry the love of her life, Ben. She returned to school after having 4 children, and earned both a Bachelors and Masters degree in Speech and Language Pathology and Audiology. She practiced for many years in the Baltimore City school system and at Loyola College. Her love of learning never diminished; auditing classes at Florida Atlantic University after she retired.

Marlene and Ben had an extensive circle of friends and loved spending time with them in Maryland, Florida, and wherever their travels took them. She was dedicated to the Associated Jewish Federation, serving in many roles including President of the Women's Division, to support the Baltimore Jewish community and Israel. She had many interests; mahjong, golf, travel, and an avid reader, but the devotion to her family, her greatest joy, was paramount throughout her entire life. Marlene was so proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, calling them weekly to connect and stay up to date.
