Philip Pace Obituary

Philip R. Pace, age 61, of Bel Air, Maryland passed away on November 28, 2022 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, in Bel Air, Maryland. Born in Havre de Grace, Maryland at Harford Memorial Hospital on September 26, 1961 by Dr. Philip Heuman, he was the son of Curtis Pace of Joppa and the late Betty (Howell) Pace, and husband of 28 years to the late Sandra (Crowder) Pace. Phil was a lifelong resident of Harford County. He graduated from Edgewood High School and Towson State University with a bachelor's degree. He retired in 2021 after 33 years of service as an Investigator and Personnel Security Case Analyst with the U. S. Department of Defense and U. S. Office of Personnel Management at Ft. Meade, MD. He received a Meritorious Service Award following his retirement. He was currently working part time for McComas Funeral Home.

Philip loved music and people, and directed singing at Edgewood Baptist Church while still in high school. In 2015, Phil founded the Just Having Fun Singers (JHFS) music group. In addition to founding the group, he accompanied JHFS as a pianist and singer. Philip had polycystic kidney disease and was taking dialysis treatments until he suffered a stroke on November 26th. He passed away peacefully surrounded by the comfort of his loved ones.

In addition to his late mother and wife, Philip is also preceded by his late father in-law, Leo Crowder. In addition to his father, Philip is survived by his sons, Noah and Nathan Pace; brother, Jonathan Pace; mother-in-law, Marge Crowder; and special friend, Carol Crabtree.

Donations made in his honor can be made to the Just Having Fun Singers at [email protected] or Reboot Recovery, P.O. Box 381, Pleasant View, TN 37146, a faith-based ministry aiding people in coping with trauma and loss. Philip was an avid proponent of this organization, and continually professed how much their Trauma Reboot class benefited him in his healing process.

A viewing and memorial service will take place at Oak Grove Baptist Church on Friday, December 2nd. The viewing will commence from 10 AM – 11 AM, and the memorial service will follow immediately after. Following the service, Philip will be interred at Cokesbury Memorial UMC cemetery. Following his interment, a celebration of life luncheon will be held back at Oak Grove Baptist Church.
