Robert Gracie Obituary



Robert A. Gracie, III, age 73, of Phoenix, Maryland, passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 from complications of congestive heart failure. A memorial service celebrating Bob's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 17th, 2017 at Salem Lutheran Church, 905 Frederick Road, Catonsville, Maryland. Pastor David Asendorf of Salem will officiate. Visitation with the family will be held at 10 a.m. on the morning of the service at Salem Lutheran Church. Bob was born in Baltimore, Maryland on December 13, 1943. He was a graduate of Milford Mill High School, class of 1961. He attended Baltimore Community College where he majored in art and completed his Bachelor of Arts degree with the Maryland Institute College of Art in 1966. That same year he enlisted in the U.S. Army. After basic training in Columbia, South Carolina, he entered the Signal Officer Candidate School at Fort Gordon, Georgia. He went on to serve with the U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) near Heidelberg, Germany. Following service in the U.S. Army, Bob worked for The Union Trust Company of Maryland and then later became a residential real estate appraiser. Over the years he was actively involved in the Association for Corporate Growth, the Maryland Realtors Association, the St. Andrews Society, and the Maryland Club. When not supporting his children at their school, performance or sports activities, he enjoyed squash and all forms of fishing. Bob is survived by his mother, Naomi A. Gracie, his wife of thirty-four years, Lucy C. Campbell; sons Robert Reed Gracie of Twisp, WA and David Reed Gracie (Kate Janulewicz) of Lincoln, NE, daughter Anna Katherine Gracie;, his sister Carolyn Roeth (the late Robert W. Roeth), his brother Gary J. Gracie (Nancy Volz), grandchildren Amaya Genevieve & William Ayres Gracie and many nieces and nephews. Memorial donations may be sent to Salem Lutheran Church, 905 Frederick Road, Catonsville, MD 21228 or to the Canine Health Foundation, PO Box 900061, Raleigh, NC 27675

Headed to Mescalero NM tomorrow and remembering the great time we had there in1988 at Inn of The Mountain Gods. The Apache Spirit God is still with us in those hills today.

I am so very sorry for your lose. I so enjoyed when I was able to come to Maryland and got together with family so I could get to know him better...He will be greatly missed by all.
