He will always live in our rememberences. We will keep him in our thoughts and remember all his tales of his experiences in the war and in business afterwards. He made our lives richer with his friendlness and companionship. He was always ready with a smile and a candy. My best rememberance was the time we took him and my dad, who has also passed, to lunch one veterans day at an airfield near DC. The restaurant had replicas of the planes Smitty and my dad worked with during the war. To see their faces brighten and the spring come into their step as they examined the planes they knew as young men was a total joy to us all. He will be missed by us all.

My sincere sympathy and love to Tops, Jane, Brett, Kevin and Scott. I share the same memories of Uncle Smitty as my brother (Cousin Jack) especially the summer vacations at the beach (Ocean City) and his love of the Orioles. I remember running in the door with excitement when we arrived in Balt every summer and he was always in his favorite chair watching the Orioles and Aunt Matts was busy cooking in the kitchen (crabcakes). I also remember Uncle Smitty sitting under the beach umbrella with his little white sailor cap covered from head to toe but yet he still managed to get a sunburn. We will miss you Uncle Smitty but now you will be with our beloved Aunt Matts. Tell her how much we have missed her and love her. -Cousin Kathleen (Cinderella)

Most sincere sympathy, thoughts and prayers for Tops & family. Uncle Smit was a hoot - and all that it implies - through it all -especially in recent years - his love and affection for our beloved Aunt Matts (Madge) is memorable. The memories are simple - sports, ocean (avoidance), dance, food, Orioles and occasional moments of gusto. They bring a smile - knowing complexity and emotion run with all of our lives - no one is exempt. God rest his soul and fun reunion with our Aunt Madeline. I will light a candle this evening at ND's grotto for your family. And you had better dance in your parents memory like they would want! -Cousin John (Jack).
