Stanley Kantor Obituary

Stanley Kantor of Naples, FL passed away on May 7, 2022 after a brief illness. He was 89 years old.

Stanley was born in Baltimore on January 9, 1933, the son of Anna Kantor. He was raised by his mother and his maternal grandparents, Paul & Goldie Kantor, and attended Baltimore City High School and the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, graduating in 1953. He then received a law degree from the University of Maryland and was in private practice in Baltimore for many years, specializing in personal injury and medical malpractice cases.

Stanley met a local young woman, Janet Weiss, at a party in 1949. They were married in 1953 and remained married for 68 years. She survives him, along with their three children: Steven Kantor, David Kantor, and Gayle Kirsch, sons-in-law James Kirsch and Michael Hampton, and four grandchildren: Megan Kirsch, Samantha Kirsch, Max Kantor, and Aaron Kantor.

After living their entire lives in Baltimore, Janet and Stanley purchased a home in the Grey Oaks community of Naples in 2016 and made it their primary home, quickly falling in love with the area, the community, and the weather. Stanley was a fixture at the afternoon dog park with their beloved collie, Bailey, who also survives him.

In their earlier years, Stanley and Janet were enthusiastic travelers, and made many trips to Europe and the Caribbean, with Paris and St. Barths being particular favorites. A man of few words but strong opinions, Stanley was noted for his dry sense of humor and as a gregarious host for those people who were lucky enough to be in his inner circle. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Mr. Kantor, your life was full. I will always remember working at Kantor & Winegrad and the laughs we all shared way back when. You were one of the kindest souls I have met and I will remember you with fond regard. May the Lord wrap your family in comfort and memories to lift their grief. You were an amazing man! Rest in Peace.
