Miss Harvey inspired me to become a teacher! Her zest for life and her students created contagious enthusiasm for all who knew her. She introduced me (and other 10th graders) to a whole new world...live THEATRE! She helped to mold her students to really believe in themselves. Speech and debate was a wonderful exerience with her constant encouragement! We all loved her! she was a Master Teacher, a great role model and a friend to all who knew her. I will remember "Beauty" fondly!

When I started high school I was terribly shy and my mother made me take speech class. I'm so glad I did. Miss Harvey brought me out of my shell. She was a wonderful teacher and mentor. She will certainly be missed.

I will miss being able to contact Ellen when I visit Battle Creek...I have known her and became good friends over the years since FIRST meeting her back in 1959 when I was a student at LHS. Ellen always had an enthusiasm for everything she did, loved her students, and loved the Lord. She will be greatly missed by a lot of folks! Kay Roberts (Cooper)

Miss Harvey had such a passion for the arts and I remember well being in her speech and drama classes way back when in the 70's. She had a way of bringing out passion in subjects brought up for debate, but was always courteous and allowed the students to weave their own theories. She was one of my favorites at Lakeview. She also used to bring her dogs to the old A&W drive in (now I am dating myself!) where I had my first job as a carhop. Back then I'd bring a cup of water for her pups and silly as it seems, she would always leave $1 tip - and back then as a car hop, that was substantial! She cared about her students and her job, and I have always thought of Miss Harvey in the fondest of terms. It was an honor to know her!
