SCOTT GILPIN Obituary

SCOTT EDWARD GILPIN
On Monday, July 15, 2024, surrounded by his loving family and faithful canine companion, Buddy, Scott Edward Gilpin passed away peacefully at the age of 60, after a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. Scott was born on March 30, 1964, in TN to Ed and Betty Gilpin. He was a graduate of University Christian High School and later obtained a degree in finance from the University of Florida before embarking on a successful career in banking.
Throughout his life, Scott had a deep passion for sports, particularly football and golf. Every summer, he cherished family trips to the Keys for fishing, boating, snorkeling, and unwinding at the sandbar.
Scott's devotion to his family and friends was unwavering; his love knew no limits. He approached life with faith, hope, courage, happiness, loyalty, strength, generosity, compassion, and love.
Scott is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Christy; his daughter, Sarah; his loyal dog Buddy; his father Ed; his brother Todd; as well as various relatives in Kansas and Tennessee. He is preceded in death by his mother, Betty Gilpin.
His absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him, but his memory will forever live on in the hearts and minds of those who loved him dearly.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at 11:00 am in Palms Presbyterian Church, 3410 South 3rd Street, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Palms Presbyterian Church, 3410 South 3rd Street, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250, (904-246-6427) or to Community Hospice Pet Peace of Mind, visit donatenow.communityhospice.com and designate to Pet Peace of Mind (904-886-3883).

I met Scott through my close friendship with his Dad, Ed. Ed would occasionally bring Scott to play golf with our group. Scott is a wonderful man. He was serious about work, passionate about life and everything he did, and golf was no exception. I thoroughly enjoyed the time I spent with Ed and Scott together. In recent years Scott would take walks on the beach and come see his Dad at the end of our round of golf. Scott always had a smile, a firm handshake and a positive attitude.

Scott’s love for his Dad and family was always evident and I am grateful for the time I got to spend with this wonderful man.

Kim and I extend our deepest condolences to Christy, Sarah, Todd, Buddy, my dear friend Ed and the entire Gilpin family. May God’s love keep and comfort all of you at this time.

I found out about Scott's passing yesterday, and as I processed the news, a flood of memories of our friendship as part of the "Woods" gang. The tackle football games in the neighborhood, the bike rides on the bike trails after dark , and the basketball games in the cul-de sacs. Even though time and different paths was the journey of our lives, when I think of my teenage years I have memories that makes me smile. Christy I am sorry for your loss of someone very special in your life, and please know that Shelly and I are praying for you. I thank the Lord for the friendship that I had with Scott.

Christy and family, my heart is so saddened by the loss of Scott. Though not knowing you all that well there was seldom a time in the past few years you two weren´t sitting in your beach chairs on the sand, spending your day in the Ponte Vedra sun. Your presence will be greatly missed. May God bless you all as you navigate this heartbreaking loss.
