Joyce Alene (Davis) Marks, 70, left her earthly home on July 28th, 2023. She passed away at her home in Lockney, TX with family. Visitation will be held at Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Plainview, TX on Monday July 31st from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at Lockney Methodist Church in Lockney, TX on Tuesday August 1st at 2:00 pm. She will then be transported to Poteau, Oklahoma for visitation on Wednesday August 2nd from 6pm to 8pm at Evans and Miller Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 10am on Thursday August 3rd at Old Cache Cemetery in Keota, Oklahoma. She will be laid to rest among her family that has gone to Heaven and have waited patiently for her time on Earth to be complete.

Joyce, 'Mimi' as she was lovingly referred to by her grandchildren and great grandchildren, was born on October 21, 1952 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma to Raymond and Anna Lee (Harris) Davis. She was raised in Oklahoma and graduated from Spiro, Oklahoma in 1970. She met her future husband, Ed Marks, at a small café in Sunset Corner, Oklahoma. After a whirlwind romance, they were married on July 10, 1970 in Muleshoe, Texas. They began their life together in Rotan, TX where they had 2 daughters. After a few years there, they found their way to Lockney, TX where they settled, added a son and raised their family. Joyce worked in the school in Lockney for 35 years, holding many positions. She first began as a teacher's aide, then a P.E. teacher, the elementary librarian and finally finishing her career in LISD as cafeteria manager. Because she was not one to sit idle, she usually took on other jobs such as working at Brown's Dept. Store and later Schact's flower shop. She was well known for helping so many in the community. She could often be seen working in her yard and taking care of her flowers as well as digging weeds in friend's yards. She was a loving and caring person, who was willing to step in and help so many in the community.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Anna Lee, 1 sister, Goldie Saulsbury, 2 brothers, Dewitt and Billy Davis, 1 niece, Mary Davis and 1 great-niece, K.D. Osburn.

She is survived by her husband, Ed Marks of Lockney, and her children, Jessica and Husband Doug James of Midland, Robin Keyser of Lockney and Joseph and wife Salina of Flomot; 10 grandchildren Jesslyn Davis, Miles, Nicole, Sheridan and Sara Keyser, and Grayson and Madelyn Marks, Kennadi, Alex and Zach James; and 4 great grandchildren: Trenton, Niaomi, Gohan and Natalie; 1 sister, Sharon Baxter and husband Hanford of Panama, Oklahoma, and 2 brothers, Jesse Davis of Spiro, Oklahoma and Raymond Lee Davis and wife Fran of Barling, Arkansas; 1 aunt, Madelyn Brown of Mounds, Oklahoma; 5 sisters-in-law Dortha Gunter of San Angelo, Texas, Shirley Nock of Levelland, Texas, Robbie Marks of Lake Ivie, Texas, Dixie Porter of San Angelo and Laura Myers of Rotan, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews that she loved and loved her and will all miss her dearly.

As we think about the memories with joy and mourn for the time to come without her here on earth, remember that she has gained the greatest gift, a healed body, no more pain, only peace and joy. She was greeted by the welcoming arms of Jesus and the ones that she has missed for so long.

Any memorials can be made to the American Legion post, PO Box 122, Lockney, TX 79241
