Veda Jean Duncan

Veda Jean Hatchel Duncan, 86, of Nederland, died Tuesday, September 13, 2011. Born February 11, 1925, in Kaufman, Texas, to Ada Jaco and Ralph Augustus Turner, she was a resident of the Mid-County area since 1951, and retired as a loan officer with Neches Title Company. She attended Hillcrest Baptist Church and was a charter member. Jean is survived by her husband, Don Duncan of Nederland; son, Ralph Leon Hatchel and his wife, Denise of Port Arthur; daughters, Reba Jean Baliles and her husband, Mark of Harleysville, Pennsylvania, Penny Wharton and her husband, Bob of Weaverville, North Carolina, and Nellie Lewis of Rockhill, South Carolina; grandchildren, Jason, Lucas, Jessica, Caris, Erin, Seth, Noah, Chris, Jeff, Rachael, Scott, Josh, Mike; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents. Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 16, 2011, at Broussard's, 505 12th Street, Nederland. A gathering of her family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 15, 2011, at Broussard's. A graveside service will be 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, September, 17, 2011, at College Mound Cemetery, near Terrell, Texas.
